Green Acres!

Green Acres is so stupid sometimes, it's downright funny. Tonight TV Land episode was "Getting even with Mr. Haney". Haney sells the Ziffle family a washing machine. Turns out it was just a steel drum, with the words printed on the outside, brand name (forget now what it was!) washing machine. Mr. Ziffle is reading the manual, the Mrs. is hooking it up with a garden hose. They wonder how it's going to work until they see the motor on the floor - a simple outboard boat motor. I'm telling you, we were all busting a gut laughing so dang hard. My daughter Laura just can't believe TV shows existed like Green Acres. Of course when they hook it all up, the washing machine takes off, like a boat. To wrap it all up, Mr. Douglas discovers Haney sold all sorts of contraptions to people, simple drums turned into coffee grinders, cars, etc.
Either we are in dire need of the new Fall lineup or this episode truly was hilarious. If it ever comes on again, watch it, it's a riot. The court scene alone is pretty funny as the Ziffles take Haney to court and you-know-who represents them.
Sometimes you just need to watch a dumb show like this!

Green Acres is so wonderfully stupid. I love it! All the gags! It's outrageous!
Hey, between GA, and Petticoat junction - do you remember the Hooterville band? They always play the same fractured song... Anyone know what it is? It's driving me crazy.
Where's Shawn when you need her?

Ah...good ole Green Acres...wasn't it wonderful to watch a show with no sex, murders and adultry?

I haven't seen Green Acres since I was a child! Most of those old comedies put the stupidness shown now to shame.
Many times we only laugh at the new comedies as a natural response to the laugh tracks that go off every few seconds. I found this out whilst watching a comedy that mistakenly had the laugh track removed. It was very boring.

Cajun - no sex on GA? My dad is rolling over in his grave! He used to oggle Lisa's sexy nightgowns and glare at my mom b/c she wore these frumpy old lady ones. LOL But I think I know what you meant. Except for Lisa's attire, no sex, adultery, etc.
Ed - sorry, can't help you out but PJ is another one that is wonderfully stupid. Remember all the work Uncle Joe did?! Yeah, he worked real hard at getting those naps in. The only bright character between GA and PJ seemed to be Mr. Drucker. You had to wonder if he ever wondered why he lived in Hooterville. How did Lisa pronounce it - Hooterschville? Did you ever see the GA ep where it's explained how Lisa and Oliver met? He parachuted into her village during the war. Silly, silly.
Alajan - I was LOL reading your post! Some new shows claim to be funny, ha, in their dreams!

But, as requested --

Shawn - what a great site you provided - hilarious. I looked up the episode TV Land aired last night, with the washing machine.
