Yep, just heard the news conference. It's sad that he had to "come out" the way he had to.

That took a lot of guts to do that. I actually respect the man for telling the truth.
His wife stood beside him too, holding his hand. She must be one special lady, I tell you.
Sad story though. Perhaps in 10 years, this wouldn't even be a story. Guess we can only hope for that.

I saw a story earlier saying he was dogged by corruption in his administration, but..... I'm speechless

He resigned because he came out of the closet? I do not understand.

Gov. Paul Patton of KY admitted he had an affair (heterosexual) a couple of years ago. I don't think he resigned.
What bugs me is that the guy was not married once, but TWICE! He must have been denying it for a long time -- and not thought about how bad it would hurt other people in his life.

I think as Governor McGreevey stated, he was trying to do "the right thing" and live the way he thought was acceptable. He's a Roman Catholic, so right there it tells you the guy has ALOT of guilt and issues to deal with. Five years ago it wouldn't have been as acceptable to come out of the closet.
Rumors have abounded for years since he's been in office that he was gay. As for the corruption, I don't really know how involved he was in those issues. It MAY be that he's a bad judge of character. He was the Mayor of Woodbridge, NJ from 1992 - 2001 so for him to last THAT long in that capacity tells me that he's not all that bad.
I don't agree with all of the nickle & diming that his Administration has done with increases in fees and taxes (aka cigarettes) to balance the budget. HOWEVER, fixing the problems that our state has will take a long time. We do need serious tax reform, particularly with regards to property taxes so that we don't rely on them as much as we do to fund our schools.
I heard the new conference on the radio and my heart went out to him and his family. I think that he did do the right thing by stepping down. This would really hamper his ability to govern the state.
There are people on talk radio stations right now criticizing him for "dragging" his wife out there with him at the conference. To me, she didn't look uncomfortable - I say to them perhaps she WANTED to be there to support him.

He resigned because the person he was having the affair with threated to black mail him. The guy worked for him and even after he left he was on the gov payroll for over $100,000.00 a year in pay.
O'Reilly was all over this story last night. Big scandal suppose to breaking soon.

Right Bonnie, the guy threatened to file the suit if the Gov didn't pay up, but he decided he would get less flack by just fessing up.
