Check engine light came on. Car started dying. Volt meter read < 8 volts. Radio and speedometer stopped working. Lurched into nearby Advance Auto Store. Guy tested electrical system. Guy said it needs alternator and Battery. Guy has me at his mercy. Bought battery and alternator. Drove home with charge in new battery. Took out old alternator. Pulleys didn't match. Went back and they swapped pulleys. (Requires an impact wrench) Went home. Put in new alternator with flashlight. Driving around $240 poorer but everything %#^*#!*& works now.

Sounds like my car...brake light comes on, lights won't turn on (likely a short somewhere), and I look down and the gas tank is on E!! Well I got it filled, checked brake fluid, filled that up, but light still come on. And I still haven't figure out what is up with the lights!!! Vehicles these days piss me off...
