Walmart goes into the Wine business!

Thanks Bro!

Some Walmart customers soon will be able to sample a new discount item:
Walmart's own brand of wine. The world's largest retail chain is teaming
up with
E&J Gallo Winery of Modesto, California, to produce the spirits at an
affordable price, in the $2-5 range. While wine connoisseurs may not be
inclined
to throw a bottle of Walmart brand wine into their shopping carts, there is
a
market for cheap wine, said Kathy Micken, professor of marketing at Roger
Williams University in Bristol, RI She said: "The right name is
important."
So, here we go:

The top 12 suggested names for Walmart Wine:

12. Chateau Trailer Parc
11. White Trashfindel
10. Big Red Gulp
9. Grape Expectations
8. Domaine Walmart "Merde du Pays"
7. NASCARbernet
6. Chef Boyardeaux
5. Peanut Noir
4. Chateau des Moines
3. I Can't Believe It's Not Vinegar!
2. World Championship Riesling

And the number 1 name for Walmart Wine ...

1. Nasti Spumante

The beauty of Walmart wine is that it can be served with white meat
(possum)
and red meat (squirrel).

Well Dennis, sounds like you have a much nicer WalMart than I do. Ours is so rundown, has very narrow aisles. The main aisle is crammed full of shelving offering weekly sales. You can barely get one cart past, either side of the remaining aisle-way. Forget it if another customer is coming at you, you need to put your cart in another side aisle, hoping you remember where you put it! I hear how we got shafted with this joke of a WalMart. That some super center WalMarts are very nice. Until I see one with my own eyes, I'm not buying it. I prefer shopping at Target. And my opinion on adding wine? I think a chain should stick with what they do best! Perfect example: Sears. There's an article in our Sunday paper's business section. It states that the entire clothing line at Sears has done poorly. One exec said - I don't know why Sears consistently buys clothing that are out of style, but they do. In other words, I think Sears should stick with applicances and tools. No one can compare with their tool line! WalMart adding wine? Crazy!!!

Good one Annette...maybe they are hoping that adding wine will take away some of the "whining" of their employees.

Mary,

Doesn't Cincy have a SuperCenter one near your neighborhood?

Eric - I could do a search for one. I'm on the east side of Cincinnati. If you remember Mt. Washington, then I'm close to there. I'm sure there is a super center somewhere within the I-275 loop. I've also heard rumors that a new super center will be built near the old one we have, tearing down the old one when new one is completed. That would be nice if the rumor is true!
