People who get booted and come back..

Just my 2 cents....what is up with all these short time members getting kicked off, and then like the children they are, logging back in as guests just to show they can get around things.
Personally, if I got booted from any site you would never see me again.
Being removed as a member from a site such as this, is not done lightly. Considerable slack is given to all, and warnings are issued, therefore if you get evicted, it is your own fault, nobody elses.
Go play somewhere else once you are shown the door and take it like a man (or a woman).

Not to pick on the mods I know of several people who got booted for actually nothing at all. One day in one day out, I got an email from someone who never really said anything, but some mods didn't like it, and poof their gone. I guess we just have to be passive with everything that is said. What joy is that in..

If you have a problem with a moderator or a question, I'd suggest that you ask them.
I have no problem with the one being banned since he decided to register and re-register again - totally ignoring the wishes of the Administrators. That's not going to be tolerated.

I understand and this person did and poof away he went. I like this site a lot, but I don't like the gustapa approach some mods and admins, not you stephanie, have....

You can also pm an Admin as well if you have a question or concern.

You don't want to see it when it happens...

Before a user is banned there is always a warning given by an Administrator via PM. Those that listen are welcome. Those that don't get the boot. We have a one warning policy and we enforce it

Ive voiced this before and Im sure I will again, but .. I think it would be easier for all involved if there were more specific rules, especially in the political forum where things can get a little heated. Ive noticed a great deal of confusion over what constitutes flaming and what doesnt, and people get frustrated when they are warned for responding to equally flagrant posts from other, unwarned participants.
I think the discussion of the term "troll" and "trolling" in the other forum was a good example. I know some participants have been warned for using that term to describe others and their posts .... but I have also seen moderators use that term (and not in a kind way or a gentle description, either). Its difficult for participants to understand where the line is when the line doesn't appear to be the same for everybody.
Just my two cents

and something I hope you will consider...

Stephanie...you made me laugh. I just recently had an employee say that about my relationship with my workers. "I've never seen you get really mad."
I then gave him a list of "former employees" who might beg to differ.
I've found the best way to avoid making decisions based on emotion rather than based on reason is to set aside some time to cool off first.
A warning at the time of a problem followed by a reasonable expectation or response usually does the trick. If someone puts inflicting pain or anger as a priority, then there is a one-way door back out.
Our moderators have exercised much restraint and much patience most of the time, and that is a credit to them as people. This forum handles those kinds of challenges very well.
If someone chooses to poke their nose back in after the fact, it is probably because they really wish they had made a different decision on what they said or how they said it.

Thanks Steve! I usually surprise people when I've finally had enough.
That's why I like "managing" via a computer. It allows you to hide your real feelings and gives you an automatic time out.
Stormie skies - I think we all understand what you're saying and asking for. The situation gets so volatile, so fast, that it is very easy for the lines to become blurred. That's why I'm happy that it is in a forum of it's own - kind of like a Pandorra's box.
If you feel that something isn't being handled correctly or are upset about a decision or even a discussion that you're having with another member, I do suggest that pm'ing the person(s) in question and handling it off the board will probably help resolve the issue quicker than continuing it on the forum. You've seen how things can escalate and once that occurs, the mods and admins generally have no choice but to give "time outs".

If those who are banned rub noses with the mods can they be reinstated?

What do you think?
Seriously, they would need to have a discussion with one of us.

If that is the case, then I don't wanna be banned.

people who have been banned can apply for reinstatement via e-mail to Chad or I. There does need to be a cooling off period though. Those who attempt to circumvent the ban by creating new accounts will find that we don't take too lightly to that

Hope you weren't referring to my question. I am just in a strange mood tonight. Ignoring me would be your best bet.
EDIT: Never mind Marshall... I see what you are referring to now.

I know of a particular someone who did that and the admin got even more mad. So, to each his own. Sounds nice, but it doesn't really work...

Exactly. I've got warned once or twice before when I was really in a bad mood(not for politics either, imagine that).
