When it comes to spending money....

#1 Postby azskyman » Mon Apr 07, 2003 10:56 pm

Money is hard to come by...sometimes seems impossible. Every dime counts.

But now and then...after you've had a full meal, paid the phone bill, filled the car with gas, and set aside a few bucks for emergencies, there can be a little jingle left in your pocket or purse.

So what do you do with it when you discover you still have it?

If (and when) I had control, I lived a rather Spartan lifestyle; just what I specifically required for day-to-day, no "fripperies".

The remainder, I saved for something worth obtaining...sometimes an item I'd waited 5 to 20 years to own.

Ha! Extra cash? House note, 11 insurance policies, autos, gas, utilities, private school tuition, son's rent, dance (studio & high school team) and somewhere in all that we have to eat!

I'm buying a CD or two today, and I bought about $150 worth of clothing for me last night ... Paid my car payment yesterday as well with a little extra on it.

I was very fortunate last month and came into some extra money.

With a housenote, SUV note - a hubby who likes to buy hot rod parts and a 7 year old daughter - there is never enough money. I have all the frugal and cheapskate books and I do practice the tips in there so we can live comfortably. Right now my big deal is SAVING. I write checks out to the 4 savings accounts we have first thing every month. After being laid off twice in two years - its my mission to have savings for us to fall back upon.
