That's a picture that we're going to regret I'm afraid. I understand the enthusiasm but it shouldn't have happened. Al Jazeera is already making a big deal of it.

In the pentagon as they saw those pictures the correspondant there of CNN Barbara Starr said that some officials didn't like that picture of the US flag in the statue because that may send the wrong message to the arab world that the US are imperialists. That is why they in 2 minutes the flag was out of there.

Here is the pic...

This was not done to show ocupancy... This was put up as a celebration and as a slap in saddams face... The American flag was then taken down, and the soldier put up the Iraqi flag... He then respectfully took that one down before the statue fell down as to preserve the flag... Certainly othre Nations are going to say other wise. As far as im concernd they can say and think whatever they want
This is just my two cents!!

Still a moment in history. These people aren't over there fighting this war - that military person is...message wrong or right - it was done and captured in photos.

IMO it made a statement. What are ya'lls thoughts or comments on this.

I do not see anything wrong with the picture. Al Jazeera is insignificant and as always they are full of controversy. But let them have a field day with it. This is the same TV station that was showing dead US soldiers plus showing our POW's. They should have disclosed the location of them to us.

This was clearly a violation of the Geneva Conventions and I am glad we bombed the Al Jazeera news station. They get no sympathy from me.

I wouldn't have defiled a flag like that. Better to use someone's soiled underwear ("depends" - remember that one?)

I think the removal of the US flag and the hoisting of the Iraqi flag was what we call a "Good Recovery". Nice spin too! :-)

Those pictures bring tears of joy to my eyes!!

We have no idea how horrible it has been for the Iraqi's for 34 years! I say that because we have never seen the type of "Terrorism" against our own people that he has perpetrated against his own. We have only heard and seen the reports.

I will leave my other discussions concerning Iraq elsewhere as this is a CELEBRATION thread.

Hmmmm...contrast the picture of the Iraqi citizen burning the picture of SH, with our "American" anti War protestors over here burning pictures of Bush. Interesting isn't it.

They are burning in Iraq because they are free of a murderous thug

they are burning in America because they are stupid
