Peace Blizzard20. It was your post about Ivan going up the east coast and hitting New England. It had a tone of certainty to it.
Sure it's possible. Mother nature has been throwing us curve balls all season. But to make a prediction that it will happen, especially with Ivan still way out there, seems to be a stretch. If it had been written as "Boy wouldn't it be something if......" it would have passed muster.
There were some threads where people were speculating about this or that relating to Frances, There were complaints because these threads were causing confusion and if people based their actions on unfounded ideas, they could take the wrong actions. We want the posts in HH to reflect sound forecasting.
S2K's been setting records this year, and staff has been stretched thin. You could probably point to several other threads that were not moved, edited, or deleted. We do our best.
I hope that helps.

Sometimes it also helps if you provide some kind of basis for your forecast like "looking at the wind patterns, ridge in the Atlantic, etc."
What Ed said is right. There are quite a few "newbies' here that take everything verbatum. We the staff have to try to stop "chaos" before it happens, especially during the busier times.
We'd still like to hear your opinions or forecasts on upcoming storms.

In my opinion, people should never took too seriously any post here when talking about 'canes.
I mean, nobody should feel offended or scared or safe if any nickname is forecasting "Ivan will strike Toronto".
I did remember the good 'ol days when Candlestick was forecasting disasters all along Gulf of Mexico up to Greenland. So what? I did not think that anybody moved or stayed where he was because of his predictions.
I believe sometimes you guys here (and guys somewhere else) are too sensible and too touchy. That's why I did stop posting my universal famous "Water Bubble Predictions" (awarded with a Storm2000.com shirt).

I agree with you on that Paolo. People shouldn't take the post too seriously unless they are taken from the NWS, or TPC. But, not everybody knows that much, on who to follow, who to listen too. I think the moderators have to take some of the posts off if they get a little to...how can I say this...unrealistic or something on that line. So they are doing a fine job, they have to protect not only the value of this site, but even some peoples lives if they listen to the wrong things.
