Isn't this stupid?
HOLLYWOOD, Fla. — Look in the sky. It's a bird, it's a plane, it's a man burglarizing an apartment of a high-rise building.
Wilson Thomas, 20, was doing his best action hero impression on March 25 when police caught him on a 12th floor balcony of the Ocean Crest Club apartment building. Police said he was trying to escape after allegedly pocketing a watch and several bracelets worth more than $1,000 apiece.
"He was scaling from balcony to balcony - no ropes," Hollywood Police Lt. Tony Rode said. "He did his Spiderman impersonation and was taking things he could keep in his pocket."
Thomas was part of a painting crew that had been working on the seventh floor of the apartment building the previous two weeks, Rode said.
Authorities do not believe that Wilson Thomas is the suspect's real name. They said they know he was born in the Dominican Republic.
Police also suspect he is responsible for other break-ins because several other pieces of jewelry, as well as an undisclosed amount of cash, were found on his person.
"He had two 8-inch knives he was using to pry open the balcony doors," Rode said.
Thomas was charged with burglary and possession of burglary tools.
