The good news is that the trough that was the responsible for the big rain event is lifting up slowly and weakening so the worst is over but the bads news about the floodings is 3 fatalities and over 100 families in refuges.Many roads were broken and some bridges collapsed.

In that link of the gallery of pics you have to click the arrows several times to see some pics of damage and flooding.

I am safe and dry so nothing happened to me personnally.

Here are some totals from the 2 days of heavy rains:

Naguabo=16.37 inches
Fajardo=14.56 inches
Luquillo=11.50 inches
Juncos=10.40 inches
El Yunque=10.00 inches
Ponce=8.50 inches

Those are a few totals that I found in the NWS office so those compare with hurricanes Georges and Hortense very good.

How sad for those people. Some of those pictures were cute the way those children were "swimming." The dam pictures were rather disturbing. That is alot of rain to come down in such a short period of time. Glad you are okay Cyclone.

I didn't realize that you were getting that much rain! I'm sorry to read about all of the damage it has caused. Like Bfez1 said I'm glad you're okay too!

That rainfall was only in 48 hours and as I said in my post above this rain event was like a hurricane Georges and Hortense when those canes dumped similar totals.

My goodness Luis, 16.37 inches of rain. No wonder why the bridges and roads are in such a mess!

Yikes! That was quite a system. Over 15 inches in some spots; right up there with Hurricane Georges and Hortense! I'll say there were flooding problems and mudslides.

Luis, I am very sorry as well for the loss of lives. Glad to hear you are well during your Good Friday offline.

Glad you survived Luis. Hope the flooding goes away. Hope your roof doesn't leak either.

We thought is was over as the trough was moving away from Puerto Rico but it has stationed near the island and in that ppsition it will continue to send rain towards PR but at least it is not those big totals of the last 2 days but neverless with the grounds saturated flash flooding is a big possibility and right now as I type a flash flood watch is posted for eastern PR where the biggest totals of rainfall fell in the past 2 days.
