question? (if You're Liberal---this might offend)

Question: You're walking down a deserted street with your wife and two small children. Suddenly, a dangerous looking man with a huge knife comes around the corner and is running at you while screaming obscenities. In your hand is a Glock .40 and you are an expert shot. You have mere seconds before he reaches you and your family. What do you do?

Liberal Answer:

Well, that's not enough information to answer the question! Does the man look poor or oppressed? Have I ever done anything to him that is inspiring him to attack? Could we run away? What does my wife think? What about the kids? Could I possibly swing the gun like a club and knock the knife out of his hand? What does the law say about this situation? Is it possible he'd be happy with just killing me? Does he definitely want to kill me or would he just be content to wound me? If I were to grab his knees and hold on, could my family get away while he was stabbing me? This is all so confusing! I need to debate this with some friends for a few days to try to come to a conclusion.

Conservative Answer:

BANG!

Texan's Answer:

BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! click...

(sounds of clip being ejected and fresh clip installed)

Wife: "Sweetheart, he looks like he's still moving, what do you kids think?"

Son: "Mom's right Dad, I saw it too..."

BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG!

Daughter: "Nice grouping Daddy!"

Expert shot, eh? I'd train the gun on him for a second to see if it deters him. If not, I'd shot 'em in the "Edited".

This is how I feel about gun control...

I've owned a snubnose S&W .38 revolver since I was 19, and a semi-automatic shotgun since age 21 (the only two guns I own). I'm 41 years old and sincerely hope I live to over 100, and am never forced to use those guns to defend myself and family -- but I will without any hesitation whatsoever..

I'd much rather have those two guns and never need them....than to need them and not have'em

I also believe in gun control! I control all my guns very well! :-)

That's me....an extremely conservative independant.
An internet survey said I was politically similar to Margaret Thatcher--which is pretty close.

I always vote for the person rather than the party, but over 90% of the time, it turns out to be a GOP candidate (I voted for three democrats in the 2002 midterm election..but also for over two dozen republicans).

I am not sure if this was brought up here. If it was it was back in late October or November. I read it on the The Weather Channel Off-Topic forum; which was created on October 15th, exactly one week after Storm2K was created.

As I was trained to do..."one shot, one kill"...directly in the "X" ring (heart) of the "Coke Bottle" (head-chest-stomach on a police K-D target). I was an NRA Distinguished Expert, Police Combat (100 rounds at 7, 15, and 25 yards, on the run, repositioning "standing-seated-kneeling-prone" and reloading, then to 50 yards right-and-left hand from barricades, timed fire).

And it would take me 3/4 second to draw and fire. This with a K-38, Model 14 Smith & Wesson Heavy Masterpiece, 6" barrel. HATE semi-auto pistols (mechanically too complex, too many things can go wrong; revolvers much more reliable), don't use them.

Try that sometime.

So you wouldn't shoot him in the "edited?"

This nutcase is not going to be standing still, waiting for that shot; standard procedure says aim for the WIDEST spot (chest cavity) on a moving perp.

"One shot...one kill".

And, when in doubt...HAND-LOAD.

9mm rounds are "anemic" at best; I loaded 38. Special Remington 110 gr. SJHP bullets with 6 gr. "Unique" charges, giving me 1325 fps muzzle velocity with a RSP ("Relative Stopping Power", scale invented by Gen, Julian S. Hatcher, AUS) of 101.5 (100 will spin and drop a man if hit in his pinky finger).

Ask me if I know what I'm doing...
