Didn't and wouldn't. It makes me profoundly sad to think the life has such terrible things amid so much good.

How tragic for his family and friends.

I say line up all those cowardly monsters in the Zawari (sp? whatever) camp doing these hostage holdings and beheadings and SMOKE 'EM w/ machine guns!!!! :grr: :grr: :grr: :grr:

There's other things we could think of to do to 'em but they wouldn't be fit for print for a family-style message board site!!

My prayers and thoughts w/ Gene Armstrong's family and friends. :(

I havent seen it, and I wont. I listened to the audio of the Berg beheading and that was enough for me. Im glad these things are available - the world needs to see war in all its gruesome incarnations, and I dont think we here in America see enough sometimes to really make it real....look at the embeds, for example. They showed us all the cool toys and weapons and the tanks racing through the desert and the awesome explosions our bombs created, but we rarely see the effects of all this power - the broken homes, the injured and dying children. We also rarely realize the agony our soldiers go through when attacked and dying....and these beheadings perhaps are as awful as war can get. But I wont watch. I have a weak stomach, and I value sleep. Maybe thats selfish of me, I dont know.

I wish this poor mans family the best. I hope they arent watching the video - life will be hard enough for them as it is for quite a while. :(

As much as American contractors, etc., need nice paying jobs over there...it's time to just stay over here UNTIL things are in order over there...just MHO.

Skywatch, its really sad that people are willing to go over there at all...

I have a friend who will be taking a job in Baghdad soon. He was laid off from his job a few months ago....he has a wife and 3 small children to feed (ages 6, 3 and 2 I believe). I tried to talk him out of it, but he is afraid he wont be able to provide for his family if he doesnt go. They have promised him $80k for one years service - that is a kings ransom for him. I hope everyone on here can say a quick prayer for him - it is very dangerous where he is going and what he will be doing (working in an electric plant).

He is the second person I have known who has considered this type of thing - another friend was jobless for 6 months and almost went to Iraq, he finally found a job stateside just before he was set to leave. I think a lot of these contract workers are in the same boat - they are victims of the poor economy here, and they are just plain desperate. Its a sad state of affairs for everyone...

It's really a shame w/ Mexico, China, etc. taking American jobs, etc...it's no wonder our industries are in such a shamble...peeps having to resort now to having to find work in of all places...the Mideast for ie. :(

It means there are crazy conspiracy theorists out there who ignore Occam's Razor.

That is exactly how I feel too! Have no desire to see Europe, not even the UK right now. Possibly Canada is as far as I stray from the US. People think you're odd when you say you don't want to visit Rome or Italy....I just flat-out don't want to!

AirmaN - read your comment and said Amen outloud!

As for the video, I could never watch something like that. That is real and would give me nightmares for months to come, probably stay with me forever. I can't even watch the Exorcist or Psycho, without a pillow to hide behind.

AGREED!

Most of the time, they're grainy and jumpy, which often makes them not as hard to watch because you have to focus to see what's going on. I always thought the worst was the Chechyens beheading the Russian soldier or the Danny Pearl one. OMG! Not now.

I can usually tolerate blood and gore (I'm extremely angered by the violence of these b******s, of course, but having worked in trauma, I can stomach watching it). But this one!! -- I was squirming in my seat and had to turn away a couple of times. As horrific as these crimes are, this one takes the cake in depicting it.

And on top of that, someone showed me a clip of two soldiers beating a kid (couldn't have been more than 12 years old). They stepped on his back and twisted his arms behind his back...and I'm not going to describe anymore, but they were monsters!!

uugguguguuhuuguhuguh... *shivers* Just like you said, I can normally watch these things with no problem... but this last one was like the video was taken with a digital camera or something  The screams are too freaky.

I saw the Armstrong video this morning. It is--if it is even possible to be such a thing--much worse than the Berg video. The "swiftness" of Berg's death is definitely not applicable in this video. Have mercy on Armstrong's soul and his family.

I'm won't watch it either. Just seeing the video on the news of Armstrong sitting on the floor and weeping while his captors read a statement was enough for me!

There is no way I am going to watch that video, I feel very sorry for him, his family, and his friends. I don't know how they are going to be able to cope with this, it is a tragedy how some people would go that low to do something like this.
