On September 29 there will be a asteroid coming very very close. You may actually see it on the night of the 29. From what I read it will bounce off the Earth's atmosphere.
Here is the Link:

Sorry for the mispelling!

And this applies to tropical weather how? Or did you just feel the need to change the subject for a bit? My intent is not to slam, just asking a question. Thanks.

I really ddn't know where to put it. There is no place to deal with the subject! Another good board would be astronomy.

no its not a treeat, it will be 4 times further than the moon. It will not hit he atmosphere. This is a well studied asteriod and is not a danger to Earth

Uh, no it isn't. Not unless the Earth's atmosphere now extends out four times further than the moon.

Asteroid Toutatis will not pose a threat to us at all. 4 times further from here to the moon is nearly 1 million miles. The asteroid is about the size of Long Island, NY. Awesome stuff out there. However in several years when it comes back it will be CLOSER than it is now. But its not a threat. Ive been watching it with my scope all the time, and taking photos, and plotting its orbit.

Some more about the asteroid!!!

Sorry I am just trying to note something.. I am not an Astonomer like some of you might be or think you are.
I am just trying to get a subject started on something other than Hurricanes, people need to get their mind off them while they can.

You are bashing me for nothing. People like you chase newbies away from posting. I just posted this for info not to say it was going to hit Earth, and where did I say it was a threat to Earth..... Storm 2K is getting aggervating with all this bashing for no good reason....

T Zack, I am an astronomer, and CCD imager, and I do know what you are talking about. If you remember N Korea explosion? UNKNOWN? I believe it was an asteroid in front of Toutatis. Can't be true until evidence comes up.

I am not referring to you.. You used nothing to be said as heat the other two did.. Plus I am not just referring to this post I see alot of heat on people who are just expressing their opinions and the ones that give them the heat are usually wrong.

For the record, I am opposed to asteroids hitting the earth.

in August 1972 a small asteroid did come close enough to pass through the upper atmosphere as it passed the Earth. Never came in deep enough to be diverted enough for impact but was seen across a large portion of the American West and into the Prairie Provinces of Canada. It was a daylight event and the were many photos and even movies taken of it.
