A day late and a dollar short I might add...what a buch of kiss asses! At least there's hope it'll go through now with their support without further wrangling.

RIGHT...the proposal is still tied to a UN "central presence" in the rebuilding of Iraq...and the Iraqi "word on the street" is that they see the UN as a "de-facto" ally of Saddam Hussein's regime.

On the face of it, sounds good, BUT...in r/l, just another way for France and Russia to "get their hooks in", and rescue Dr. Hans Blix's tarnished credibility...as it is also tied to UN weapons inspectors validating US "finds" to "be more credible to the world community".

NOT.

It amazes me that they want to have UN inspectors to go in when we are already doing so. I realize it is so they can still make themselves look like a world leader and to give the UN a reason for being. We have a vested interest in making sure that we find weapons of mass destruction and I sincerely doubt that we will say that they are no longer in existence or were all destroyed until we've uncovered every nook and cranny in that country.

Delaying lifting the sanctions will only hurt the Iraqi people. If they want to get involved in the reconstruction of Iraq, this is one way of doing it.
