SPRINGFIELD -- Students at Kickapoo High School will face heightened security measures on Friday. Someone threatened to detonate a bomb at the school and administrators want to make sure it doesn’t happen.
Superintendent Jack Ernst told reporters about the bomb threat at a news conference late Thursday afternoon. Ernst said the extra security measures will include checking Kickapoo students before they enter the school, not allowing students to leave once they enter the school, and placing staff members at all the entrances and exits during the day.
Ernst said administrators take the threat seriously, Ernst wouldn’t say why administrators are treating this seriously instead of as a student prank.
I will keep you updated on this story. Scary situation indeed.
