All-Reality TV Cable Channel Planned For 2004
POSTED: 9:09 a.m. EDT April 28, 2003
The people behind Reality Central hope so. Their planned cable channel devoted to reality television is set to debut early next year.
Reality Central is being developed by a co-founder of E! Entertainment Television and a businessman who was a reality show contestant. They contend reality T-V has proved its staying power and can attract and hold enough viewers for a niche channel.
Half of Reality Central's programming will be devoted to reruns of domestic and imported series. The rest will be behind-the-scenes looks at the shows and contestants.
The network will feature one original reality show -- detailing the development and launch of Reality Central.

Good, maybe they can take all the crap on network TV (Survivor, Big Brother) and move it to that channel.

And I was hoping all of this reality crap would go away...
If my cable company picks it up, it'll just be another "deleted" channel.
I've got enough "reality" in my own life...I don't need to see other people pretending to portray reality.

Well said Southerngale. But I want to add one more thing:
How in the world is being stranded on an island supposed to be "reality"??

The premise for these "reality shows" seems to be a variation on "Lord of the Flies"; strip any group of people of the "veneer of civilization" and find out what they are truly "made of".
One can enter any courtroom or prison in the land and view the same thing, without commercials.

I think they mean Reality in terms of what people do under certain conditions..seeing it live as it happens ..not the conditions themselves. I used to like the reality shows but lately they leave a boring impression in my mind!!

what do you suppose it'll be called?
The Ghetto Trash Network?
everyone that hooked up on The Real World will get caught up on Cheaters so they'll work it out on Springer where they can beat the crap out of each other but then after the dust settles and everyone grows up, you can watch Rikki Lake to find out "who the daddy is" only to end with everyone feeling sorry for the slut mom thus giving her a personal talk show that discusses of all things... REALITY! p

Gimme a BREAK BUT.......like OtherHD said, we can get our tv's back now, I seriously doubt FOX and NBC will take their reality shows off, if they did, they wouldn't be on the air any longer!
