KISSIMMEE, Fla. -- One man was killed when his car suddenly burst into flames in the middle of a Wal-Mart parking lot. It happened just before 11 p.m. Wednesday near Osceola Parkway in Kissimmee.
Investigators from the Kissimmee Police Department and the State Fire Marshal's Office are poring over what's left of the Ford Taurus. What they do know is that the car spontaneously exploded late Wednesday night, leaving one man dead.
"When I got so close, I was feeling the heat. The car was making noise like it was going to blow," says eyewitness Danny Saldago.
It was just after 11p.m. at the 24-hour Wal-Mart.
"What we heard was a loud bang, and when we turn around our friends said, 'Look, look, the car's on fire,'" says eyewitness Javier Castro. "And then the car was completely on fire."
Eyewitnesses say, a man had left the store and leaned into his newer-model Ford Taurus when, out of the blue, it simply exploded.
"The windows just blew out and the person was engulfed in flames very quickly," says Chief Robert King, Kissimmee Fire Department.
"The flames were at least, let's say, five feet tall. It was amazing, it was amazing," comments Castro.
As for the driver, police say they have an idea who he is but they still haven't confirmed his identity
{this would have happened either at the end of my shift or while I was still on shift.. possibly.. I could have seen this.. Remember.. I'm scheduled to work a 2-11 shift when I get started}
