POSTED: 6:32 am EDT October 14, 2004
UPDATED: 5:23 pm EDT October 14, 2004
Investigators say the fatal explosion of a car parked at an Osceola County, Fla., Wal-Mart store was no accident, Local 6 News has learned.
The body of a 32-year-old man was found inside a burned car at a Kissimmee, Fla., Wal-Mart Wednesday night.
Witnesses said the man left the store at about 11 p.m. and entered his Ford Taurus car when it exploded.
However, investigators said they found a Duraflame log and propane canisters on the front passenger's seat.
Authorities said the man was having financial, marital and job problems.

That story has since been re-written.
The cause of death is still not ruled as anything but accidental.
They're reviewing the security tapes.
Regardless.. what on earth was he doing with duraflame logs and propane in the front seat?

Could he have been restocking hurricane and winter supplies?

There's not much winter in Central Florida. Yeah they get down to the upper 20's sometimes but that's about it. Hurricane supplies makes more sense. Regardless, that's just awful...if he was depressed, there's other ways to fix it, not just take your life (assuming that's what he did).

Still sounds suspiscious to me!! The logs and the propane together are fine without an ignition source. Something/someone had to set them off and I just don't see how it could have been accidental.

Tanks on the floor and duraflame log on the dash. Light the log, crack the window and open tank valve. Create a delayed explosion maybe.

How long of a delay? He was supposedly bending over leaning into the car when it exploded or I thought I read that somewhere.

Well the post above mentions explosion and found in car. If he was outside leaning in he would have been blown backwards. The "entered his Ford Taurus car when it exploded" is the confusing part. There is info missing here. It could be a suicide or a hit. I don't know how much of a delay you would have. It would depend on the size of the interior of the car and distance of flame. The amount of fresh air and propane escape would factor in. Propane is heavier then air and seeks the lowest point. I would guess it would take only a minute or two for the right combo to build up.

pure speculation:
he was leaning in to stop the flame/explosion?
