How the D. Chicks can show "support"

Not my idea...but certainly could have been:

Mike Gallagher, who many of you know is the organizer and main promoter of The Marshall Tucker Band's "Benefit Concert for the Troops and their Families" in Spartanburg, SC has made a proposal to The Dixie Chicks:

He is asking them to match, dollar for dollar, the amount of money that is raised from this Benefit Concert. Since it is a gesture of "support for the Troops", he claims that this will be a way for the Dixie Chicks to back up what they say, and in return, he believes that this will partially, if not completely absolve them from the negativity surrounded by their ill-advised remarks. Words are cheap....but a donation to this cause will defintely help their situation. Everyone benefits...its a no lose situation.

A drop in the bucket for Saddam's Angels. Lets see how they respond.

I think its a great idea. If they choose to ignore the request...then what does it say?? Just a great move by Gallagher!

I agree that it is a good suggestion. Let's see what they do...I think they should do it. But a question is if he has raised that suggestion directly to them or is just saying this to the press and hoping they will hear it. He should make a direct offer or suggestion.

He was on a local station this morning (WORD AM Spartanburg) as a guest of Russ Castle. Russ stated that they have put several calls into Representatives for the Chicks (with NO reply), and Gallagher will be persuing this on his Nationally syndicated show throughout the day.

So in answer to your question...at the time he announced this, it was a fresh idea that came into his head. I believe he will make every oppurtunity to contact them directly, as well as spreading the word across the airwaves.

I seriously doubt that they will accept this challenge and their reasoning will be this; we don't have to prove ourselves and if we do it this time, where will it stop. I am fairly confident that if they refuse this, they can truly kiss their career good-bye, but on the flip side.......they are getttin alot of media attention, not to mention chat board attention :D and sometimes negative publicity is better than no publicity at all.

I hope they do it, but even if they don't their career is in, damged, but intact shape.
