I heard this story upon it breaking. In fact, I almost made a post minutes after getting the information.
The plance crashed not too far from, but not too close, either to the John Hope Elementary School. I
assume this school is named after the late TWC Hurricane Expert, Meteorologist John Hope.

It's fortunate that the building the twin engine Beechcraft slammed into was a vacant former auto body shop at the corner of Edgewood Avenue and Boulevard....not far from Georgia Baptist hospital.
The plane departed from Peachtree Dekalb airport (KPDK), and was destined for Venice, Florida (per FAA).

John Hope elementary school in Atlanta was named after the first African American president of Morehouse University....not the late TWC hurricane expert/ forecaster of the same name.
Here's more information about the gentleman the elementary school was named in honor of.
