This is really sad. I pray the father has no ill intentions towards his son and that they are found soon. Unfortunately I know right where it is because it is about a mile from my house!

The father stabbed the mother to death.

My guess is it was a case of "If I can't have you, no one will" and he's probably suicidal also and hopes for a suicide-by-cop ending. They believe he's in route to Laredo (he could even be there by now...if not across the border already). If he gets caught, he'd most likely make a move to threaten a cop, even if he's actually unarmed, in an effort to get killed.

Totally sad that things like this happen.

Nothing yet. They are pretty sure he is into Mexico by now with the boy. If I remember correctly he left behind a little girl. Really a sad story!!

Scroll to the 3rd item...

Team Amber Alert Tx-- Police in Texas continue to search for a missing 4 year-old boy and his father in Texas as the Amber Alert remains active.

Police believe the boy's father has his son or knows where he is now. They want to question Avelino Martinez-Alvarado in connection with his wife's murder.

Jesus Martinez Alvarado, is described as standing 3 feet tall, weighing 30 pounds with brown eyes and black hair.

The father could be driving a 1993 brown Chevrolet pickup extended cab with the license plate VS2034. He could be enroute to Laredo, Texas where he has relatives.

Anyone with information about the missing boy or father should contact Houston police at 713-308-3600.

again this is an urgent “Call to Action” to find this child and return him to his surviving family. Martinez-Alvarado is 31 years old, who stands 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighs approximately 200 pounds.

Relatives reported to police that Rocio Alvaredo was afraid of her estranged husband because he had tried to kill her before.

Authorities Need Help Finding Son Of Slain Mother

Police issued the alert after discovering Jesus Martinez Alvarado's mother had been stabbed to death inside his father's northeast Houston apartment in the 1300 block of Witte at Long point at about 1 a.m.

Houston police said the couple's 1 year-old daughter was also found unharmed inside 27 year-old Rocio Alvarado's estranged husband's apartment.

If they dont know where the man or the boy are, how can they cancel the Amber Alert?

I guess I just dont understand how the system works.

If I understand correctly, part of the reason for the Amber Alert is to disseminate information about the child and/or abductor in a timely manner, since many times, there is only a small window of opportunity during which an abducted child can be saved. Seventy-five percent of abducted children who are murdered are killed within three hours of the abduction. It has now been well over 72 hours since the first alert was issued. I'm not saying I think he's dead...just that the window of opportunity to save him is now well past.

I'm sure most people who do pay attention to the news or radio broadcasts have heard this information by now. I'm sure they're still looking for him and he's still classified as a "missing person" and the father is still "wanted." But the Amber Alert probably isn't necessary anymore. If they kept Amber Alerts active for as long as a child was missing, we'd probably never get through the news day. It's a sad fact -- but there are far too many child abductions in this world.
