Has anyone ever just played around with a calculator? You can do intriuging things like multiply and divide by 11, or take 11 to various powers which creates interesting number patterns.

Check out the irrational number phi at http://goldennumber.net/index.html
It has some fascinating properties in mathmatics, geometry, design, etc.
It's more than I can write here. Check it out!

I had never done any of that, but in middle school everyone thought that it was cool to spell words by turning the calculator upside down.

Surprisingly ... I use my calculator quite a bit for simple equations, (but still very useful).

Ed, I have multiplied and divided by 11 on a calculator before, but not recently.

Garrett, I remember my classmates, making words turning the calculator upside-down. The most popular words being "hello," "goose" and "loose." :D
