Head-on wreck kills driver in Lancaster

LANCASTER, Texas - A motorist was killed late Tuesday when her car was hit head-on by another vehicle in Lancaster.
The Dallas County Sheriff's Department said the victim's Chevrolet sedan was northbound on Interstate 35E shortly before 11 p.m. when a southbound Ford Explorer crossed the median.
The vehicles collided near Parkerville Road. The driver of the northbound car died later at a hospital.
The woman driving the Explorer was hospitalized with undetermined injuries.
Police were considering possible charges in the case.
Many Dallas-area highways have median barriers to reduce the possibility of crossover accidents. A new guardrail system is being installed along a stretch of the President George Bush Turnpike following a series of serious wrecks.
