With Thanksgiving behind us, have you finished your turkey yet or are you still doing "leftovers?" We're still working on the bird....I was gonna fix turkey rice soup last night but after "9" hours of cutting an elk up (my nephew brought us a whole SIDE of elk, 400+ LBS  ) I was too tired, so we had pizza last night, tonights menu IS the soup!

Here's a twist for you all....

We spend Thanksgiving with my Mom every year. And she's very trying to have in your home. Snoops, asks very personal questions, notices every cobweb.

Soooo, most of the time we go out to eat. Last year Jim said no, I'm cooking. But did he clean? NO! Did he even notice my mom was stressing me out no end? NO!

So back to a restaurant we went this year.

Then Friday, he went grocery shopping, buying a small fresh turkey, on sale, 2/3's off what it was before Thanksgiving. In fact, he came home with the entire meal, and declared - this only came to 20 bucks! 20 bucks! LOL

So yesterday he cooked his post-Thanksgiving turkey and we invited a friend over. He said Mary, we are not going out to eat anymore on Thanksgiving. We're inviting your mom out here. Oh lovely, well I have what 362 days to prepare for that arrival? he he Just make sure you buy wine too Jim....LOL

So we have an abundance of turkey today. Made soup last night from the carcas. Today we'll have turkey sandwiches, with other leftovers.

We ended up with TWO turkeys! I got one free from the local supermarket from the points on my club card. So did our daughter. We cooked the first one on thanksgiving day, and the second one last night! We still have plenty of leftovers.
Cold turkey sandwiches, hot turkey sandwiches with gravy, next: turkey noodle or turkey rice soup.

Almost gone. Still a few pieces left from which I'll likely make sandwiches when I get home today.

Yeah, you know... the gallons upon gallons that you buy when the storm comes -- hurricane water. :-) Had about 10 gallons just for myself.
