Police: Student Slashes Another Student's Throat At School
Student Injured During Arrest
HUMBLE, Texas -- A high school student cut another student's throat during a fight at school Monday afternoon, police told Local 2.
Investigators said two female students, a senior and a junior, got into a fight shortly after 1 p.m. at Humble High School, 1700 Wilson Road. It stemmed from an argument that happened over the weekend.
"Today, as the 12th-grader was leaving campus about 1 p.m., the two girls saw each other in the commons area at Humble High School. The two got into a scuffle and a teacher intervened," said Karen Collier, Humble ISD spokeswoman.
School officials said the twelfth-grader pulled out a box cutter and then cut the junior's throat.
"The 11th-grader received a superficial cut across her neck. A relative was called to pick up the girl. I understand they're going to take her to the hospital, but right now, it looks like the wound is not serious," Collier said.
The junior was taken to Northeast Medical Center, where she is expected to make a full recovery.
Humble police said the senior tried to resist arrest when she was being taken into custody and she received minor injuries.
"She, in fact, struggled with the officer and he was able to apprehend her," said Lt. Quinton Sammon, with the Humble Police Department.
The senior is facing a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
