Suspicious damage to hydro tower
COATICOOK, Que. (CP) - Quebec provincial police said Friday they were investigating damage to a hydro tower that sends energy to the United States.
Const. Louis-Philippe Ruel said police were awaiting the results of tests on material found near the tower and didn't know whether it was explosive. A bomb squad from Montreal was called to the site near Coaticook in the Eastern Townships. Ruel wouldn't say what type of damage was done to the tower.
Marie Archambault, spokeswoman for Hydro-Quebec, said a hunter driving an all-terrain vehicle noticed the damage.
She said the tower sends electricity from James Bay to the Boston area, adding there was no disruption in service.
