Unbelievably sad!! The DUI sytems do not work and that has been proven over and over again. There is no excuse or reason for these kind of tragedies to happen!! My thoughts and prayers are with Landon in heaven and with his family who is left behind to grieve.

DUI laws DO apply and are very affective if enforced. Does not look like the case here. My heart goes out to Landon's family. This was a needless and tragic death.
mamadude... if you hear of any type of donations being made to the family please PM me with the info you may have.
Thanks!!

DWI's dont' work here in WI. There are too many bars to go around and not enough cops.
Anyways...people will drive even though they are on a suspended license. There is a guy in Green Bay that was pulled over last month for his 12th DWI! Yes, 12th DWI! Nothing will stop him from alcohol.

How sad!! A young life taken for selfish reasons!! It just simply is NOT fair. My best friend was killed at the age of 12 by a drunk driver!! I am so sick of tired of these damn drunk drivers. When I drive around, it makes me so ANGRY to see two or three cops hanging out in the convenience stores drinking coffee (amongst flirting) when they could be out enforcing the law they were sworn in to enforce and protect innocent citizens from tragedies such as this!!
Sorry for the bad language.

Johnathan!! Why are you being so nice about this guy!!! I can't even begin to put into words how I feel about people like him or the ones that let him out of jail the first time, if he has ever been in jail. A fitting punishment would be to make him a crash test dummie and see if he ever drinks and drives again, if he survives! On top of that he should have to pay all medical expenses with no insurance discount, and have to work in the ER on the worst nights with no exceptions of any type. And he should never be allowed to drive any type of vehicle again as long as he lives-NO EXCEPTIONS!!!! DO THE LAW OFFICERS AND JUDGES HEAR THAT?-NO EXCEPTIONS!!!

Mamadude, my thoughts are with this boys family. Such a tradedy
David I agree with you. These kind of offences should be dealt with in the harshest manner! Being made part of a roadside clean up after a DUI accident would scare sense into a load of repeat offenders. They should NOT be allowed to drive after being caught! If they are caught as repeat offenders they should be monitored continually, after all the repeat DUI driver is just as, if not more dangerous to the average person on the road as a murderer! JMHO

Unbelievable...you can't imagine it can you..... It sure puts your own life into perspective when you read things like these eh. I'll never complain about petty stuff again. Wow.. I'll pray for that family.
Hey vbhoutex... it's funny you should mention that, because I saw a story on about a year or so ago about a guy (DUI) serving time because he fled the scene where he caused an accident under his doing - no one was killed however, but he was still taken to jail. Well, he had 2 choices - he could stay in jail for however long or literally become a "crash test dummy"..not for cars.. but for people to see how much damage they sustain in an accident. Well he chose the adventurous option, clearly without thinking it through!!! !! You should've seen the stuff this guy went through...it was actually really enjoyable to think what he did and what he was going through now. He had to drive off cliffs, have head on with walls... oh man.. it was rough!
Back to that story.....what happened to his brother (The driver)? Did he survive?

I think people like that should be charged with murder, for sure. To drink and drive is a choice. I know how alcohol affects you, I am a recovering alcholic, but that is no excuse, especially with his prior record.

WELL THIS IS A FAMILY BOARD..what the heck..I think he should have to sit in the same kind of car with his head restrained ..towards a whole bunch of oncoming vechicles..driven by proffesionals..that drive towards him at over 100MPH and swerve until eventually one of them hits him at over 100MPH!!!! Broadside the same way that innocent boy died....BTW the one that hits him will be remote controlled so no more innocent people die because of this scum sucking protozoan....and while this is happening he should be eaten alive by fireants..Better..VB!!! LOL

(Norfolk, VA, May 8th, 2003, 7:43 a.m.) NewsChannel 3 has investigated Roy Everett's past and has discovered a long rap sheet dating back nearly 10 years. Including a recent charge for driving under the influence.
Here is what we have discovered so far. Everett was arrested in January of 1994 on an abduction charge. That charge was eventually non prosecuted a year later. Everett has been found guilty of cocaine possession and being drunk in public as well. But Everett's biggest problems have come behind the wheel. He's been getting pulled over across Southside Hampton Roads since 1993 for a host of traffic violations. Between 1993 and Wednesday night, Everett has been arrested 18 times, more than half of those arrests took place in his hometown of Norfolk.
Most of the charges have been for speeding and traffic infractions, there were two for wreckless driving. Then we discovered the drunk driving arrests. The first infraction came in October of 1994. His license was suspended for 12 months. There was another arrest in March of 1998 but those charges were dismissed. Then in April, just last month, Everett was arrested a third time for drunk driving. Here's what the arresting officer wrote in his criminal complaint. "Defendant was driving a '94 Jaguar. Defendant was stopped for reckless driving and had a strong odor of alcoholic beverage on his person. I asked if he had been drinking, and he stated yes. 4 Mike's Lemonades in an hour." Everett is due in court to face that charge next month.
Then came Wednesday nights accident and arrest. So this is actually Everett's fourth drunk driving arrest, one was dismissed, he's been convicted once, and he faces convictions on two more drunk driving charges. This latest arrest is a felony, he's being held without bail at the Norfolk City Jail.
