After going to bed on Christmas Eve 1969 (I was eight)...I heard a noise in our living room. Upon further investigation, I found dad and my uncle Larry putting a new bike together under the tree (and mom bringing more toys in from her CAR

I didn't say a word (didn't want to spoil the surprise for my then four-year old little sis)...just quietly went back to bed; but knew at that very moment Santa was a farce, and those toys didn't come from the North Pole

My brothers were only too happy to tell us younger ones that Santa wasn't real. Of course, we didn't want to buy into it. So they showed us the presents...I was about 9. I cried

You mean there's no such thing as Santa Claus?

Sorry, couldn't resist. You know someone like Chad or j would have posted that!!!

I saw my grandfather dressing up as Santa on xmas eve once. I remember telling my dad - that was Grandpa! But he kept saying oh no Mary, it couldn't have been......I went back to believing. For a few years but in time, I found out. And for the life of me I can't quite remember how I did find out. Probably little comments from my older, very pesty brothers did it.

When I did know the truth, I began snooping for presents. One xmas I found every single present my parents gave me. I clearly remember feeling very letdown on xmas. My mom saw how disappointed I was and asked if I liked my gifts (I did). But I didn't snoop anymore after that - it took the fun out of xmas knowing everything I was getting!

I starting thinking about this after something that happend Saturday. I was at my sisters house, and my nine-year-old nephew Robert and his little friend Jonathan were having a conversation regarding Santa Claus with a third friend. The third boy was telling Robert and Jonathan there is no Santa Claus. Robert and Jonathan said "dude, it's like God, you can't see him but you KNOW he's there"! They believe!!!

when I was 9, actually was told about the easter bunny then.

As for when I have kids, I have no intention to tell them anything about Santa. Christmas will be about Christ, and 100% about Christ as it is his day, not Santa's (I am offended when I hear Santa references made on Christ's day)

Say what about Santa?

LOL!

I was 9 or 10... basically just realized it wasn't possible and when I told my parents they didn't try to argue with me.

Sunny - ditto on what Chad said! You didn't post anything remotely offensive. No need to apologize even.

I learned about ol Saint Nick when my mom gave me a book that detailed the story of the real Saint Nicholas. I was 8 at the time.
