I got my favorite present a little early - my nephew home on leave from Iraq!! He went back the Sunday before Christmas, so we actually celebrated Christmas the on the 18th! That was the best present I could have gotten. My family was extremely fortunate to be able to do that.

As I sit here in my new leather coat I can say I won't see my favorite Christmas gift until the weekend of April 8/9. My husband is taking me to see Elton John at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'll let you know later how it was :D

You're gonna love hearing (and singing) "Crocodile Rock," "Saturday Night's Alright," and "Rocket Man" live and loud. :) Others are good also, but IMO there's just something about hearing those diehard, rocking favorites where EVERYONE sings outloud with the artist. It's just totally MAKES a concert. :D

Aside from experiencing those moments with Billy Joel, Amy Grant, and Garth Brooks (my faves), I have to rank Cyndi Lauper's "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" as the best yet in regards to live performances with the audience singing along. If someone had told me BEFORE I heard it that it would be that great, I wouldn't have believed them. I mean, come on! GJWHF? One of the most overplayed anthems of the 80's? One of the most bubble-gummy songs of our time? Whodathunk it? But in a packed coliseum...at full concert volume...with Cyndi dancing all around the stage...and thousands of voices singing in high-pitched, perky frenzy. It was...well...FUN!

Besides the concert, I hope ya have fun in Vegas...but don't tell us about it. Remember, what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.

Mine is still on its way...a little-known "Morey MK I" combat knife (designed by a USN machinist during Gulf War I, and made in Saudi..only 500 usable knives made).

It's a VERY small footnote in US military hardware, but it's also unbelievably inexpensive...gotta have one for the collection!

My mama bought me a large TV for my room because she can't stand watching the Bucs anymore. I can scream and cry to my hearts content (more crying than cheers this year  )

Outside of an Accord Publishing wx guide wall calendar and a Wx Weekly Engagement Planner along with 3 almanacs...my top favorite this year would be a mail-delivery subscription to my former city's newspaper (courtesy of my sister and brother-in-law)...that way I can keep up on ALL the latest goings-ons in that community and county!! :D

Everyone's gifts sound wonderful! It's all about the love behind the giving, really, even more than the gifts themselves.

My specials include a strand of pearls with diamond and gold accents plus the DVDs "Merlin" and "Mists of Avalon" (I'm an Arthurian legend nut, especially devoted to the novel "Mists of Avalon.") :D

I got Mark Sudduth's Hurricanes of 2004 DVD from my mom. :) :D That was the best one by far.

(now if I knew where the remote to my DVD player was that would be great  )

My sister arranged for a 5 day ski trip - just the two of us - NO KIDS!!!!!!!!!!!! JUST US GIRLS! It was the first "childless" vacation I have taken in 15 years!

Six inches of powder the 2nd night there ! No one to pick up after, to cook for, to drive anywhere, to watch over, to worry over except ourselves.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh :-)

Have to be honest here............

A White Christmas!!!

Didn't actually snow on Christmas Day but it did 2 days before. Snow is still around in fact!

Having a white xmas in Cincinnati is always iffy. If we get anything it's usually just an inch or less. Not what we got this year!!!

Mary

PS - next would be my Dallas Seasons 1 and 2 DVD's. I'm in Ewing heaven......LOL
