Happy News Re: US Response to Tsunami Victims

My former boss is a Brit in the oil "bidness" and has been living in Singapore with his family for the past 3 years. I was so afraid he, or other former friends and co-workers, may have been on holiday in the areas hit by the tsunami. Here's the response I got back. I have to say, it's news to me about the extent of what our Marines are doing. Sure would be nice to hear it in the press.....

No Jen, we were not in Phuket, we stayed in Singapore over the holidays and did our traditional Christmas lunch for the [project] Waifs and Strays, having vacationed in Phuket, HCM City in Vietnam and Cambodia earlier in the year. All of the [project] family are safe and sound. Unfortunately, many of my Indonesian colleagues in Jakarta have loved ones missing or dead in northern Sumatra. The response from the world at large has been overwhelming, enough to restore faith in the human race. You should very proud of the good work the American government is doing here in South-east and South Asia, in particular the American Marines in setting up field hospitals, emergency power, water purification, medical help, in addition to the distribution of food, drinking water, shelters for the homeless and clothing. Perhaps Muslim attitudes towards America will change when they realize the positive impact America has brought to Muslim countries in their hour of need.
