On vacation. It's in the Smoky Mountains and has a ski resort and a lot of attractions. People in the area know it well. We're hoping to see snow up there(man-made is guaranteed, but I want some real snow as well). We got the reservations made just now. My dad's birthday is the 24th so we're going to be up there for it. :)

We leave here on Saturday January 22nd and return on Tuesday January 25th and the baby and the dog are going.

My sister and I used to go with my folks for annual Amway conventions at the Gatlinburg Sheraton each August back in the late 1970s/early 1980s. :)

Yes, we plan to. I've never skiied before and neither has anyone else.

I went when I was 15 months old but it was during October and my parent's went on their honeymoon there in June, but no one has ever been in the winter.

Eric... a hotel.

Hope you have a great time there! I was there earlier this year for the first time and had a great time. Try and get on one of those sightseeing choppers if you can.

This is Gatlinburg in the Fall:

The thing that looks like the Space Needle in the background is near the chairlift at the ski resort. We'll be within a mile of it. 8-)

I've been to Gatlinburg many times. Fall is the busiest I've heard, although I've never visited then - traffic is a nightmare I've been told. I would think winter would be a perfect time to visit. The town is nice, many shops and restaurants to enjoy. I prefer the hiking myself and it sounds like you'll be doing lots of outdoor activities too Brent. Have fun skiing and being with your family.

Amazed the new puppy is going too!!! This should make for an interesting trip!!! Of course the baby should go......let us know how this all works out!

The puppy had to go... we're going to be gone 3 nights, she can't even be by herself for 5 minutes without yelling.

I grew up around there. It is indeed a beautiful place. Be prepared for monster traffic.

The space needle is on the opposite side of the street from the chairlift; a couple of blocks away.

have fun! at the top of the mountain that the tram takes you to, there's also an ice skating rink and a bear enclosure...

Careful, skiing can become habit forming!

We were doing a "human slalom" down a run when I was struck by the amazing beauy of the place! Made everyone stop for a "tourist picture". By the way, it is tough to take pictures when it is -4 and you have to take your hands out of those wonderful warm gloves.

My dad says we're going to Colorado probably in December to ski there. He wants to go to Vail and/or Aspen. 8-)

I'm going to be addicted if that happens.
