Just for those who may have given up on love...

Carol Channing, 82, Marries Childhood Sweetheart
Mon May 12, 2003 09:41 AM ET
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Carol Channing, the 82-year-old actress best known for her role in the Broadway musical 'Hello, Dolly' married her childhood sweetheart, the San Francisco Chronicle reported on Sunday.
'I thought she was dead,' was the reaction of the groom, Modesto, California land developer Harry Kullijian, 83, when he heard Channing might like to hear from him. 'She still had the same spark. I just knew it was the right thing to do.'

The ceremony in a San Francisco suburb on Saturday was the fourth marriage for Channing and the second for the groom.

Kullijian and Channing were junior high school sweethearts at San Francisco's Aptos Junior High School, until Channing's mother ended the relationship because she thought her daughter was too forward, the newspaper reported.

In her recent autobiography, 'Just Lucky, I guess,' Channing wrote: 'The leader of the school band was Harry Kullijian. I was so in love with Harry; I couldn't stop hugging him.'

A mutual friend read the book and called Kullijian, who thought Channing had died. After a brief meeting in February at Channing's California home, the couple became engaged and set the date for Mother's Day weekend.

The brief ceremony took place at a private home before about three dozen family members and friends. Channing wore a cream pantsuit and carried a bouquet of white roses.

Now that is touching. Good to know love is everlasting.

There's someone for everyone, even when you're 80. Just hope you don't have to wait that long. Well, you can always adopt.

LOL Sorry, I meant adopt children as a joke since we're talking 'bout 80 year olds, but the Adopt-a-Spouse program sounds pretty nifty. Their motto ... "You buy 'em, we'll tie 'em!"

We had a 60-ish newlywed couple in the office, just the other
day...I was glad to see it, because, the lady had been very
sick, near death, had regained her health back to smiling
from ear-to-ear, and, fell in love with a sweet man and married!
We call her our biggest "success story"! :D

And me. I heard once that if you have been looking for a while and you stop, she (or he if you're female) will come to you. ;)

In just about all cases, that's about how it works out.
