On thursday night the first eclipse of the new century will take place weather permitting of course but you will have to stay up late to see it.

The hours are as follows:

The start of it will be at 9:30 PM EDT,the climax will be around 10:30-11:00 PM EDT and the finish will happen well after midnight so good luck with the weather to permit you view this spectacular event.

Here in Puerto Rico it will be seen too and I am planning to stay up to see it weather permitting.

Luis, thank you for the information on the Total Eclipse of the moon this Thursday night-Friday morning. I have the information on it in my Old Farmer's Almanac, too.

They are more specific with the time, I will post it if anyone is interested. The most important times to us are the actually viewing times in observing the event.

Wether permitting, I'll be watching!

Tom post the farmers almanac information because it will be important to see the exact times on the distint phases of the eclipse.

I had a telescope, got it for my birthday several ago. I enjoy astronomy, but not too much... so my brother took it just last week.

I tried using it a couple times and wasn't really that interested in it.

TOM...I too..suffered that fate lol I have a BUSHNELL NORTHSTAR computerized telescope!!! Loved it at first but it got boring!!! :o

Penumbral eclipse of the Moon, May 15-16. The beginning of the umbral phase will be visible in eastern North America; the end will be visible in North America expect for the extreme northwestern part. The moon enter penumbra at 9:05pm EDT (6:05pm PDT) on the 15th and leaves at 2:15am EDT on the 16th (11:15pm PDT on the 15th).

Most of us will be able to see most of the moon "disappear" if not totally. There are maps online that have specifics which at some point will be posted by one of us in the next three days.

Darn! It will last through 1:15am CST, and, this ole gal will be fast
asleep - unfortunately, Saturday is my next 8 hour "gig" at the
hospital! Up at 4am for a 6am-2:30pm shift. I love astronomy,
and, Johnathan, I envy you with your Bushnell Northstar! One of
my most enjoyable experiences was getting to see the moons of
Jupiter through the telescope at Lowell Observatory in Flagstaff, AZ!

Annette, in case you didn't know ---> This total eclipse of the moon is Thursday night into Friday morning; not Friday night into Saturday morning.

I will sell it to you cheap LOL/ I paid 400 but will sell it for 200

Tonight will be the total eclipse of the moon and it will be seen in all the US but of course weather permitting from 10:00 PM EDT the start then at 11:30 PM EDT is the climax and after 1:00 AM EDT will be the end. Rainband do you have your telescope ready?

Unfortunately the local met. said that it is unlikely I will be able to see it! Is it all right if I pout in this topic? J/k! You guys enjoy it.
