What was forecast to be only some flurries here in Wake Co NC today has turned into much more with at least an inch of snow here in north Raleigh...icy roads and beltlines, etc., has made for one monumental migraine for many commuters this evening, tonight and now into the wee hours of this morning!!!
  :( My Dad has been stuck in traffic on Durant Rd. trying to make his way over to Capital Blvd. now since between 4 and 5 pm ET this afternoon!!! :(

Thank you very much my S2K Prayer Warriors!!

Eric

Thank you very much, David! There's even been school buses who have had trouble navigating today...they had to return the kids as soon as they got out on the road...after school districts called it an early day. Some school kids and even employees having to stay overnight in the school buildings because of treacherous roads!! In fact yesterday evening...they reported on the news that one school fed the kids some sandwiches and they watched a movie in the auditorium to pass some hours!! Other schools fed the kids and also employees supper! For a minimal snow fall rate here in Wake Co for ie.--ICE has emerged as one nightmare of an end result!! Never in living in NC thus far have many seen such wx-related gridlock as since Hurricane Fran I believe!!!

Saying a prayer that your Dad makes it home safely Eric. Also praying all those people drive safely in such conditions.

Eric - check in with us when you can. I missed this thread last night, so I'll say a prayer he got home safe and sound.

Ice is especially worrisome. I think we all prefer snow over ice. And rain over snow. And dry conditions over rain. And let's see what else....LOL

But ice is a whole other thing isn't it? Especially in hilly communities (what Cincy is and where you live Eric, I suspect).

Let us know how he did?

Mary

Aaaannnnd guess what??! A chance for some more snow yet again tonight through early AM tomorrow and possibly 1 to 2 inches here in Wake County!!! At least we'll ALL be here in our nice warm townhouse together!! :D

Absolutely you're welcome Eric!!!!

Hopefully you'll just get snow out of this next system. Locally, we're poised to receive anything treachurous *(sp?)......sleet/freezing rain/heavy snow. Not sure what we're getting yet.

I hope everything turned out okay there. Looks like things are warming up here in northern florida (except sunday) so hopefully it'll be there soon for you too.

As it turns out the doctor's office didn't get back to us (on our answering machine that is) today until around 3 pm ET...said for my Dad to call back tomorrow and set up a new appt. time. :) If it were me...I'd schedule it for Spring!! :)
