I have glasses since I was a 10 year old boy.

I wear contacts, and I also have my glasses (the poll doesn't allow for both!). I've been thinking of looking into the "See Clearly Method".

I've needed some type of corrective lenses since I was 9: (incredibly ugly) glasses in the early-/mid-60's until contact lenses when I was 17; glasses during my pregnancy (29) when I couldn't tolerate my lenses; contacts or glasses until I needed bifocals in my mid-30's (yes, I've even had prescriptive bifocal sunglasses since then); and exclusively glasses since. Over the years I've come to look at my glasses as "a fashion accessory" (snicker). In my youth, my visual shortcomings included astigmatism and near-sightedness. One relatively common plus of aging and visual correction that's happened to me is that the near-sightedness has actually been improving on its own over the past ~5 years, although the bifocal power keeps creeping up. I haven't had to deal with cataracts yet, although both my parents developed them. So, yes, I've been a veteran "four-eyes" for most of my life!

I had a consultation for lasik surgery, but they said I couldn't get it done if I have hypothyroidism.

Actually I have contacts and reading glasses and a pair of bifocals. Getting tired of using all of them and want lasik, but last time I talked to the eye doc he said they aren't good enough for my type of problems yet, so I still "suffer".

I wore glasses from 5th grade all the way up to my senior year in college- last year, when for Christmas I got LASIK!!!! The best thing I've EVER done and now I enjoy crystal clear vision, and no contacts or glasses!

I've worn glasses since 1996 and contact since 2000... I only put my contacts in if I feel ambitious. I have custom inserts for my chemical warfare gear (those things hurt! talk about raccoon eyes!)

I have worn glasses since I was in 6th grade a long time ago. I am so near-sighted I am almost blind without them on. Even using the plastic lenses my lens are very thick. One eye is 20/200 and the other is 20/300 so I really need them.

I have trifocals. I tried contacts but could never get the vision as clear as the glasses.

I've had glasses since age 12.Now I'm officially an old man because I've had bifocals for 2 yrs.

I've had glasses sine I was 16; bifocals for the last ten years. I could be a candidate for laser surgery, but...no insurance.

I've had glasses since I've been out of college and working as an accountant. I'm near sighted.

No glasses, but my vision isn't exactly perfect, either. I'm a bit nearsighted, but not enough that I'd need glasses to see clearly.

I need 1.75 strength reading glasses now.

Yes, I'm over 40....sigh. Plenty over 40 actually.....LOL

FYI, not always but in many cases, once a person turns 40 their arms are not long enough anymore. In other words, they can't read phone books, restaurant menu's, magazines/newspapers, etc.

Opthamologist said all I needed were simple reading glasses. Purchased at drug stores.

But I miss being able to pick anything up and be able to read it. Sometimes if I've kept my glasses on for cooking and reading a recipe, when I take them off to eat, my food is blurry!

So if this happens to you, don't fret. Get to a doctor to confirm it's just aging....he he. Then if you need simple magnified reading glasses, there are many styles and prices out there. Flea Markets even sell them - not that I've bought mine there. But that's what I've heard!!!

Glasses since sixth grade. I would never put foreign objects in my eyes or let someone cut them. I get shivers just thinking about it.

I wouldn't let any one operate on my eyes either.
