Have any of you ever been published in any variety of national or areawide media, such as a local newspaper or been on TV with a local personality?

I have, and I would like to share those experiences with you today.

I began volunteering as a WeatherNet volunteer for the local newspaper in October of 1991. This experience taught me many new things, such as how to read a thermometer, a rain gauge, and it also helped get me into computers. But it also helped make me semi-famous. Here are some pics to prove that fact (the last one does not have to do with weather btw):

This is my name on the front page. It got so obliterated by the fact that I was so excited that I made front-page headlines that you can only read half of my name now. :o



This is my interview that the paper did on me on the weather program that I did. It ran on the weather page one day before my 11th birthday.



This came about when I noticed a local street name that had two different spellings on opposite corners. I wrote this column that you see here, and because of my writing, they fixed the sign!:D

So as you can see, I made the local paper four times in the span of 11 years, and 3 of those came about within 2 years of each other. Not bad IMO. Now y'all go ahead and post your published experiences here.

I met a meteorologist from one of the local television station in Boston, my freshman year... back on the first Wednesday in May in 1993. I watched him prepare is forecast, the computer graphics and then watched the Noon news from the side of the studio.

A friend of mine and myself met Rob Fowler from WCBD-TV 2 back in 1991 and was mentioned on the visit later that night... also, an intern TV weatherlady also did interviews with us in 1992 ... about a 3 minute story in which both my friend and my skills were put to the test ... I won...*LOL*.

I've been mentioned in the Charleston WFO's newsletter quite a bit as well on numerous occasions (issued quarterly) and also the newsletter (The Storm Courier) is on the Charleston WFO's website.

How cool is that! The only time i was in the newspaper was when i was born and it just mentioned my name

Hehehe, it was indeed very cool. I remember those days fondly. They were some of the best of my life.

I have been interviewed several times on local TV, once wrote my own column in my hometown paper ("Conservatively Speaking", The Florissant Reporter", 1969-70), served as a contributor to a WW II re-enacting monthly magazine, and have been mentioned as one of many "contributors" in two books..."Angels guard the occult secrets", Graham Etherington (2001, Brengray Press, Port Elizabeth, SA)) and "Chain Dogs - The history of the German Feldgendarmerie", Robert E. Witter (1993, publisher forgotten).

In addition, I served as a deejay in college at the PBS station on-campus, delivered a host of "voice-overs" for student commercials, and have been a featured guest speaker as a WW II re-enactor performing a "first-person narrative" impression on over 34 college campuses between 1985 and 1992.

I have also been a speaker for the Shriner's Hospitals, "point-of-contact" for the Sons of the American Legion, and Information Officer for Group II, Missouri Wing, Civil Air Patrol-USAF Auxiliary.

All that, plus $.99 and applicable sales tax, will get me a cup of coffee anywhere.
