Does anyone here have a dog that has seisures? If so, what are the symptoms of your dog's seisures?
Bailey, our new Yorkie puppy, had an episode last night of what could possibly be described as a seisure. Her body got really stiff, her eyes became blank and fixed, and she started shaking. Her equilibrium got thrown off, and down became up for her... She had a tendency to tip over backwards. I held her through the episode, it lasted about 2 minutes. Once it was over, she 100% snapped out of it. She became the normal puppy again, running around like a maniac.
This has happened once before, the 2nd day we owned her. However, she had just fallen off the couch, so we thought it was a result of her fall.
I talked to the vet, and they agreed that this isn't an emergency situation, because she snaps right out of it. They said it sounded like it *could* be seisures but she definitely needed to be checked out, but it can wait. Her next booster shot is in 3 weeks, and they said it could probably wait until then, unless it happens again or if they become more frequent. They said that seisures can be regulated with medicine- does anyone know the details of this?
Is it a daily medicine? Does the medicine completely prevent seisures or just make them happen less? Can Bailey live a happy, fulfilling life if she has this condition? I guess I know these are all questions to ask a vet, but so many of you are knowledgable here... I am in a lot of subjects but not this one!
So, please write back if you know anything about this subject of have a dog with seisures! I'd appreciate any feedback.
