I had WeatherBug on my old computer and I didn't notice any more problems than I already had with the piece of junk. I loved having it for current temps, rainfall rates and wind speeds during storms, instant radar, forecast, etc. plus I could enter a zip across the country and get the same info instantly.

Anyway, I was about to add it to my new computer but I remember a few years ago, hearing that some people didn't like it, etc. Does anyone know if the latest version has spyware, etc.?

I miss it.

I don't use weather bug any more after I found WeatherWatcher. It is a totally free program without any any spyware or bloatware. It can be downloaded from the link below

You can program it for any zip code you want and get weather news for that area.

Why? I love WeatherBug. I've tried a few other similar programs in the past but they were never MY conditions. They were like at the airport or something. I have WeatherBug stations about 4 miles north and 4 miles south of me and several more less than 10 miles away.

Frack, I have WB and I don't have any problems with it. I like it but then again I like IE and AOL!!!!!! All the stuff everyone else has problems with do fine with me.

I tried AOL for a couple of months with a free trial. This was way back in 1997 I think. I decided to go with Prodigy at the time and have heard so many horror stories about AOL, that I've just stayed away. I had no reason to use them anyway. I kept Prodigy until Roadrunner was finally available here a few years ago.

I wouldn't know if WeatherBug gave me any problems as I had so many problems anyway. I didn't notice anything worse. Dang, I like it. I wonder if there's a version out there with no spyware, etc. I definitely don't want the programs...just the benefits.

Chad gave me a link to something that he heard was good with no spyware or ad-aware, but he didn't know much about it. He thinks it might be something similar to WeatherBug. Anyone ever heard of this?

Kelly after I found Weather Watcher I dumped Weather Bug. I have been using Weather Watcher now for over 2 years. I have never had a problem with it at all and my HP is known for having problems for any new program I add.

I have had weatherbug for some time now without any problems. I would be more concerned with visiting certain websites. My kids have been to game and music sites that have given us plenty of trouble. Do you use spybot on a regular basis?

PC was only a year or two old, AND, way before
I downloaded Spybot. I still won't even try it, again!

I have WeatherBug on all three Desktops (XP Home), and we have not encountered any problems with it so far (6 months).

We also have Ad-Aware...Norton...the only "evil" stuff is on Coppertop's (games, music-file-sharing, "kid-yak" websites).

I haven't downloaded it, but I looked at it and it looks pretty good. Does it just have one option though for your city? The problem is that Beaumont's "official" weather is reported from the airport, south of Beaumont. I've seen a few other programs that give the temperature and conditions there, which are not the conditions near me. lol
If it's raining hard at my house, I could see the rainfall rate with WeatherBug. It may not even be raining at the airport though, about 20-25 miles away from me. How is this one set up?


Edit: I just went to http://ww2.weatherbug.com/aff/default.asp?zcode=Z4117# and WeatherBug is guaranteed Spyware free now. I wonder if it still needs the warnings to stay away like Chad mentioned. hmmm

weatherbug is, (or should I say was) a magnet for spyware. Got rid of it, and haven't tried it since using Adaware.

STRONGLY agree with Chad here ... WeatherBug dumped a crap load of spyware programs on my old system and caused a severe bogdown of the resources ... DO NOT get WeatherBug ...

EDIT: Local conditions are currently down Should be fixed soon! once it is all you have to do is click on your location on the map on the homepage and you will get local conditions.. Or just simply put your zip code in the search box
