What/Who would you die for?

#1 Postby David » Thu Feb 03, 2005 10:04 pm

Maybe no one at all? Had to write this paper for english... if you wanna read and comment you can, otherwise, you guys can discuss what or who YOU would die for.

What I would die for… (rough draft)

When I think about it, there are 2 groups I’d die for. My parents, and my friends. Not all of my friends, but some of them.

I say my parents, because I know many people would do the same thing. I say I would die for my parents, because they first off got me to this Earth. Secondly, they have done so much for me in life. I think sometimes we all take for granted what are parents do for us. I don’t think any of my parents are really “depended” on by a major part of the world, but they are important to the jobs they work at. My dad works for the military, and owns a business here in Topeka, so I would die for him to keep his business, and keep contributing to the community. My mom works at Kaw Area Tech School, and she works the cash register in the cafeteria. I’d die for her so she could run the cafeteria. My step dad works for an architectural company. I would die for him so he could keep working on the major project they have, and so he could support my mom. If he were to die, my mom would have no way to stay in our house, and pay all the bills.

I would also die for many of my friends. Most of them probably don’t feel the same way toward me, which is fine. I probably haven’t affected them like they have affected me. I only have a couple real close friends. Cory, who I’ve known since 1st grade. I would die for him, because I know he’s going to go very far in life. He is a very intelligent person. Calvin, who I met in 6th grade, is just like Cory. They have all their classes together. He’s smart, and will go far in life as well. Brandon, who I met in 7th grade, just because he’s been really nice, and deserves a good life past high school.

There’s some of the people I would die for, but there are two that stand out. Mostly because those two had the most affect on my life so far. Two girls, twins as a matter of fact. One gave me a new view on life, the other was there through the beginning, middle, and end of it. Stephanie was my first girlfriend, my first love, my first real fun in life. If you know about what happened, it was a real mess, but the end result was not good. The relationship ended at 12 weeks. She left for someone else. You would think someone would hate the person after what they did, but not me. She had a really big impact on my life. Steph is one smart girl, and she will go far in life.

Jennifer was the first one I really talked with. Met her back in 3rd hour last year. She’s the one who got me and Stephanie talking in the first place, which turned out to be a good thing. Ever since we started talking, we have been really good friends. She’s helped me through much in life, and she’s let me know I’ve helped her through a lot as well. Some of the stuff that has happened, I probably would have had a hard time going through, but she was there to help me. I owe a lot to her and Steph, and that’s why I would die for them.

I would die for a lot of my other friends as well, there are just too many to name. You might think I’m crazy, but in my opinion, all I’m going to be is a meteorologist when I grow up. Many of my friends are smarter then me, and will be much more when they grow up. They will have a wife or husband, and have a loving family. My friends have given me a lot of good times, and done so much for me, I owe all of them for what they have done for me.

It's sometimes a lot tougher to do, but it's much more preferable to LIVE for someone, or something.

Anyone can die, but of what profit is that? To LIVE means that, come feast or famine, you will "be there"...and that's what is important.

The report is very good. I do have a problem with a teacher giving this topic to this age group.

Sounds like his teacher is trying to get his/her students to "discover" a political point, IMHO...and the question is both ridiculous and inappropriate.

Not really a good choice of assignments, but I think the point is to think in terms of, what would you die to protect. Still, doesn't make it right.

I don't know. I don't think this topic is half bad. Making students think deeply about the people or things that are most important in their lives, now that's a lot better than writing about their favorite CD or TV program or something irrelevant.

David, you've done a fine job. When thinking of your parents (especially at your age) your thoughts are mainly with the security that they bring to your family. But, I especially like the second part where you have talked about your friends and the effects that they have had and still have on your life and the fact that you are so greatful to them that you would give your life for them.

One final word - Never underestimate the effect you have on other's lives. I am certain that your family and many of your friends would gladly give their life for you. You're a pretty terrific person!!!! Please realize that your goals, dreams and aspirations are as wonderful as the next persons. You will always meet someone who is smarter, better looking and kinder than you. That doesn't mean that they should live longer than you. That doesn't mean that they are better than you. Your life is so very important that to say you would gladly give it up for another is the highest compliment that you could ever pay another human being.

((Hugs)) to you my friend
Karan

I'm fine. As I said, it's an assignment.

She did say that at this time, we shouldn't have to think about it, and most people did write the paer on why they wouldn't die for anything.

I just thought since alot of you are older, and haven been through life, some would have something to die for. I just tried to make discussion, sorry.

Well, as General Patton once said...

No poor, dumb sonofabitch ever won a war by dying for his country.
He won it by making the other poor, dumb sonofabitch die for HIS country!"

There are ideas and ideals, people I know, and never will know, that I'd go into hazard for...but not with a view towards death, but SURVIVING so that I can share in their company, our victory, or celebrate the ideals I fought to preserve.

See what I mean now? [/i]
