Do You Have the Time?

I knelt to pray but not for long,
Had too much to do.
I had to hurry and get to work
For bills would soon be due.

So I knelt and said a hurried prayer,
And jumped up off my knees.
My Christian duty was now done
My soul could rest at ease.

All day long I had no time
To spread a word of cheer.
No time to speak of Christ to friends,
They'd laugh at me I'd fear.

No time, no time, too much to do,
That was my constant cry.
No time to give to souls in need
But at last the time, the time to die.

I went before the Lord,
I came, I stood with downcast eyes.
For in his hands God held a book;
It was the book of life.
God looked into his book and said,
"Your name I cannot find.
I once was going to write it down...
But never found the time."

You have to find the time. Or as in my case I make the time. God, Jesus and Church.

I went so many years that it seemed I couldn't pray...and now I wake up at night and pray; pray for my family...my friends, ask God to forgive folks that have said unkind things. I also pray for strength and guidance. I used to get up during the night and worry..couldn't get back to sleep -- now I pray, go back to bed and sleep like a baby :)

I'm certainly not perfect...no one is. I sin every day...but always confess my shortcomings, and ask God to help me not commit those sins again; help me to become a better man.

I now call my father "dad" or "daddy" again (instead of "Bill" which I'd called him since 1984), and tell him I love him every time we talk...and I mean it; I tell my stepmother that I love her and mean it. I give the praise and thanks for that peace and ability to forgive and love again to Jesus Christ.

You're welcome guys.

Nice testimony Perry...prayer really is very important, not to mention comforting.

hmmm...i am not sure...lemme look for the lyrics. I believe it was their first famous single actuallly.

ah...i found it. Of course it has nothing to do with your poem...its just the title of your thread that made me think about the song. The song is called "Basket Case"

Do you have the time
To listen to me whine
About nothing and everything all at once
I am one of those
Melodramatic fools
Neurotic to the bone no doubt about it

lol maybe you heard of it?! Oh well sorry for getting off track lol! oh yeh its their first single from their first cd like i thought.
