OK. So I'm in my 50's, not my 20's.
My sons and daughter-in-law led us to watch American Idol over the last few seasons...and we had our favorites in each. Kelly Clarkson. Clay Aiken. Those were two we enjoyed watching.
We're keeping track again this season. The people to beat? Our picks for the final four... Bo, Lindsey, Carrie (our personal favorite because we like country!), and Anwar!
Men's competetion is the toughest. Women are good...but not QUITE as strong.
Any other fans/opinions?

I can't argue with your top four. Those are pretty much my picks also, up to this point. I like Scott's voice, but I'd be surprised if the majority if the callers vote for him. Constantine is quite popular with many of the younger viewers so far, but I think his main talent is cheesing up to the camera.

I thought Mario was the one to beat very early in the competition. Haven't been able to watch thia past week so I had no idea he was gone.

My daughter is in love with Bo.
Can't argue with Bo and Carrie(I've liked her from the start). Not that impressed with the other two, but like I said I've been away for several shows now.

Mario wasn't voted out... he left voluntarily. The first show since his departure will be tonight so you actually missed nothing.

Yeh i have since heard a snippet and he had "personal issues" he needed to deal with. Why is it the really good ones always seem to have "personal issues"? Oh well, the rest of the competition is really going to be tough IMO. They have a really great group of finalists, probably the best ever, this year.

David, my youngest son says the same thing about his luck in finding the woman in his life!!!
Yes...it does seem that a lot of people have a lot of baggage. The intensity and the duration of the emotional roller coaster during AI can take a toll on those who don't have the support system to bring it all together.

I haven't paid as much attention this year to AI, but it does seem like they have a VERY strong top 12. It's ashame about Mario because from what I did hear and see he has alot of talent and I do think he would've been one of the finalists.
BTW, Clay is now in Indonesia as an Ambassador for UNICEF to help the children that were affected by the tsunami.

My favorite is Anwar. He is a natural. Would be nice to see a music teacher win.

Actually got a chance to watch it last night. As tough as Randy was on all of them I was impressed with most of them. Anwar definitely stood out last night as did Bo and the woman with the fro(cabn't remember her name and don't have time to research).
It is too bad about Mario-I think he could have taken it all.

I'm all for Carrie Underwood!!! Gotta cheer for my fellow Oklahoman. I'm a little worried though- about how the voters will react to her because her natural genre IS country, not pop. Regardless, even if she doesn't win AI, she has a country career ahead of her!
I know some people who grew up with Carrie in Checotah, OK. They said she's nice, but a bit stuck-up, has been singing and trying to make it big her whole life.

Lindsey didn't do very well last night. I hope she gets to stay in to do better next week. I forgot all about Anthony. I like him, but he does't have much stage presence yet.
Enjoyed Bo's performance, as usual. Constantine did better than he has been. There is just something about him that bugs me.
Nadia did ok, but I agree with Simon that she is just staying in the middle of the pack.
Anwar, he's a class act.
I enjoyed Carrie's performance but she had done better.

Her name is Nadia Turner. I did not like her originally, but she has definitely improved. Still like Carrie A LOT!!
