Great pictures.

Does he have any family? Was he ever married? Kids? Brothers, sisters? There has to be SOMEONE out there who's related to him.

Pope John Paul II was never married. He lost his mother and beloved older brother when he was very young. He lost his father when he was 20. That was when he decided to join the church. I would think he has some family left in Poland, though.

Roman Catholic Priests (aside from a very small segment, a specific order of them) can't get married. If they could, they certainly shouldn't be having children unless they were.

As far I we have been taught - Catholic Priests cannot marry, period. They are "married" to the church. Same with our nuns.

As I understand it, the Komitet Gosidarstbennoye Bezopasnostu didn't do the job itself, but "farmed it out" to the Bulgarians.

BTW, in 1 Timothy, the primary qualification for bishop, priest and deacon was that they were to be "Sober and reliable, the husband of one wife, with a well-regulated household and respectful children...For if a man cannot keep his own house in order, how then can he keep the Church?"

Clerical celibacy was not required until the pontificate of Pope Gregory the Great (7th Century), but many of the churches (particularly the English and Irish Churches) had abbots, priests and bishops who were married, with children, up until the 11th Century after the Council of Whitby.

Pope Gregory's belief was that clergy should be "Christ-like" in all ways; since there was no evidence that Jesus ever married, this was the model Gregory demanded of those who were accepted into the Holy Orders...Scripture says otherwise.
