I read that during his child/teen/adult years he also enjoyed skiing, hiking, swimming, kayaking, music and theater.

Pope John Paul II was never married. He lost his mother and beloved older brother when he was very young. He lost his father when he was 20. That was when he decided to join the church. I would think he has some family left in Poland, though.

Roman Catholic Priests (aside from a very small segment, a specific order of them) can't get married. If they could, they certainly shouldn't be having children unless they were.

As far I we have been taught - Catholic Priests cannot marry, period. They are "married" to the church. Same with our nuns.
