I know that I post this, every year, but, I've just GOTTA
tell someone!

I saw one darting in the front feeder, early this afternoon,
and, another one (maybe the same one?) darting into the
back feeder. I have missed them so much since they left in
September!

I love them so much....they are back and have been for a couple weeks now here in Southeast Louisiana. Hope they are as plentiful as last year. I had at least 7 or 8 at time fighting over the feeder.

My parents just told me they made it to southern Indiana about a week ago...I'm expecting to see them here within the next week or two! Can't wait to get my new feeder up and ready!

Saw my first one here in Michigan too, Breeze!

I put the feeders up Sunday.....usually see 'em on Mother's Day.....as I was on the back porch reading the paper, I suddenly realized I was hearing that "whirrrrr" sound of little wings!.......p

LOL, there's a particular "whiiiirrrr" sounds to those little
wings that tends to get your attention, Petal! They "buzz"
me when I am out watering flowers. Purdue and Wpwxguy,
thanks for sharing! And, ya'll remember - keep them feeders
full!

While working out in my gardens yesterday, I was buzzed several times....and then I realized it wasn't ME they were after!

A beautiful pair of Baltimore Orioles have realized that if they tip the hummingbird feeders just a little, they can get a nice sweet drink! This pair was here last summer....I bought an Oriole feeder....filled it up with nectar.....and they still prefer the h.b. feeders!!

I'm always so flattered that so many varieties of birds call my little acre "Home"!! (Hmmm.....must be those 8 birdbaths are working!)......p

Aren't they fun to watch?

Here in Arizona, we see them all year long. They flit into our back yard every morning and evening...sometimes during the day. Don't have feeders, they just check out the flowering plants.

Enjoy.

we visited a couple of friends in Patagonia AZ who are hummingbird researchers. they have feeders EVERYWHERE and we learned a lot. we also went to Portal and stayed at the George Walker house, where there were also quite a few. we saw an absolutely huge hummer there (comparatively speaking, of course): a Magnificent hummer. And it truly is.

they are very interesting little critters. i miss AZ, there arent nearly as many hummers here in northern FL.

Our friends' web site is:

Thanks for posting that link, Alicia!

Now, if we could just get Dennis (azsnowman) to
fess up to how many feeders that HE has put up, this
year.....
