For me, it is Groundhog's Day. It isn't my favorite movie, but I just love how intricate the script is. It is on right now, and I have to watch it until the end, even though I have school tomorrow. What about you?

Yours, Mine and Ours starring Lucille Ball and Henry Fonda. But it's pretty old now, so it's rarely on anymore.... I finally bought the DVD!

Now it would have to be Planes, Trains & Automobiles, starring Steve Martin and John Candy. I have watched that car scene about a dozen times and I still laugh so hard, I have tears in my eyes.

The Breakfast Club - every time I start watching it, I just can't stop until it's over!

I'm sure there's others too but that was the first one that came to mind.

Kelly - my daughters love the Breakfast Club! This past year or so, they've gotten into teen movies from the past 10 years - the Breakfast Club, Empire Records (they have to watch this one to the end!), Dazed & Confused, Sixteen Candles, St. Elmo's Fire, etc. In turn, they've gotten me into some of them. It's kind of nice now to finish one of these movies, after flipping channels and seeing only 5 or 10 minutes of one of them. For example, I don't know how many times I'd stumble upon that scene in Empire Records, where Lucas is made to sit on the couch. And I could never understand the significance of that scene. Now it makes sense since they've said - Mom, watch this movie with us! LOL

I've never seen Empire Records or Dazed & Confused...sounds like I'm missing out. Maybe I better look for them.

Grease, Footloose, Forrest Gump (yes, I have all three on video, but there's just something about watching a broadcast, knowing others are watching and enjoying it also).

And almost any Lifetime channel movie that gains my undivided attention for more than five minutes.

Yeah, duckie. I'd have to say Grease as well. I've seen it a million times but it's just hard to stop watching.

SourthernGale and I totally think alike! If 16 Candles or Pretty in Pink come on I have to watch them (even though I have them on DVD) I also love the Breakfast Club! and I always watch Top Gun when its on... I am not a fan of Tom Cruise, but I love the movie...

one i just recently saw for the first time - it was so good - Leopold and Kate. also After the Sunset I think i could probably do the same. Pirates of the Caribbean is another favorite I always watch to the end.

Starring Anthony LaPaglia, Liv Tyler, Renne Zellweger, Rory Cochrane, etc. If you like 90s music, you'll like this movie. Definitely a time warp but my kids (almost 15 and 18) love it. Flip side to ER would be High Fidelity (with John Cusack).

Starring Matthew McConaughey, Rory Cochrane, Ben Affleck. What can I say - this movie is one you either like or don't like. Definitely a 70s genre movie. Music, clothes, hanging out with nothing to do, drugs (have to warn you of that). But overall my kids can't believe everyone was so laid back then - no after school mega-curriculars, no cells, no computers, heck, probably not even cable TV! Just driving around and around. Yes I did that! The major partying - naw, but it doesn't bother me much for some odd reason. Just watch it! We showed it an out of town friend who graduated with my hubby in 77, and he laughed his butt off watching it. He couldn't believe the director nailed so many things accurately.

Forgot to add, my daughters googled Brat Pack movie links. From there they found websites devoted to teen movies from that time period. Which actor/actress went on to do other movies. Apparently, John Hughes wrote a lot of these movies and Molly Ringwald appeared in many. Here's a list of his movies:

Nina actually wrote me a list to take to Blockbuster 2 summers ago. Rent these movies Mom sort of request....meanwhile, hubby just rolled his eyes. She's like this with music (just discovering Smashing Pumpkins or Gin Blossoms right now). Anyway, on this list one movie kept coming up - Heathers. So we finally rented it.

Do not watch Heathers! Very, very disturbing. I had quite the lecture from Jim, after we watched it. I know it's a teen cult movie, but I will warn you of that one. Very odd. Very disturbing. We couldn't shake that movie for a while. And I couldn't believe all the websites for that movie and how kids think it's so great. Next you'll say you loved this movie. Won't tease you if you did, when my own teen daughter said - Mom, this movie is very bizarre, I knew then and there it was wasn't in the league of her other fave teen movies (Pretty in Pink, Sixteen Candles, Breakfast Club, St. Elmo's Fire, Dazed & Confused, Empire Records).

Okay, if I can remember, I'm going to get to the video store before BPW and rent D&C. I'm fairly certainly I've seen parts or most of ER. Anthony LaPaglia is the boss, right?

Heathers -- definitely a dark, weird movie.

Yes AL plays the boss in Empire Records. About the only sane adult in the bunch. Well, there's the aging Tom Jones type star....

Glad someone knows what I meant about Heathers. W. Ryder was superb, as was the male lead but the overall story was not your typical teen movie content.

I remember after school specials! One with David Cassidy, going back to HS, impersonating a HS student but secretly he was an under cover cop, looking to break up drug rings. He almost falls in love with a teenage girl, meanwhile he's married and his wife is getting quite annoyed he's so caught up in that HS world again.

The actor who played James at 15 was in a few. Melissa Gilbert maybe?

There should be a list of these movies somewhere.....I don't even know any of their titles. But they all told powerful messages.

Ok, I'm gonna rent those 2 soon. I'll let you know what I think when I do. Dazed & Confused sounds similar to That 70's Show. As for Heathers, I have not seen it and I think I'll pass. That kind of stuff does not interest me. I saw The Craft and that was bizarre enough for me. Weirdos! lol

Molly Ringwald was the "it" girl for a while. I wonder what she's doing now. I have a friend who looks a lot like her. Maybe they could use her and do a "Pretty in Pink 2" hehe
