Girl, Another Student Arrested In Separate Incidents

A 17-year-old girl and another 16-year-old student were arrested at a Central Florida high school after a teacher was knocked unconscious and another poisoned on the same day, according to Local 6 News.


Two students are arrested at St. Cloud High School after a teacher is knocked unconscious and another almost poisoned on the same day, according to Local 6 News.





Police responded to St. Cloud High School after Nicholas Fish allegedly put a potentially deadly chemical into a chemistry teacher's drink.

Witnesses said the teen took the ammonium dichromate during a science demonstration in St. Cloud High School and dropped it into the teacher's coffee cup, according to an Associated Press report.

"The kid took the chemical and put it in the teacher's coffee when she was not looking," St. Cloud police Chief Pat Kelly said. "Fortunately for the teacher, other students saw it and went to the teacher and told her."

The students may have saved the teacher's life because several doses of the chemical can cause organ failure, Local 6 News reported.




"On a scale of 1 to 4 of seriousness, it rated a number 4," Kelly said. "It's a carcinogenic."

Fish faces a charge of poisoning food or water, a first-degree felony.

At about the same time, police arrested a 17-year-old girl after she allegedly knocked another teacher unconscious in a dispute over a cell phone, Local 6 News reported.

"When the teacher took the phone away from the young girl, the girl became combatant and grabbed the teacher, spun her around, took her phone away and allegedly pushed her back," Kelly said. "When the teacher went back she hit herself on the wall."

The teacher lost consciousness and was transported to a local hospital, Local 6 News reported.

Both students face felony charges.

St Cloud has always been the model school for behavior here in the county.. guess they're not anymore lol

Next year my sister Retha starts teaching a first grade class at a Christian school here in NC...hope she's able to handle it.

I have a cousin in Sarasota, FL who had taught at a public school for a while but resigned later...she and her husband now have a daughter and I imagine she doesn't really miss the classroom with the way things are today anymore.

A couple months ago we had a similar incident in my area with chemicals. The chemicals were not lethal in this case. If I remember correctly, the chemicals caused an urge for one to go to the restroom FREQUENTLY. A couple of chemistry students thought that would have been funny to do to their teacher.

This new incident, however, sounds more "I want to hurt you" like.

they NEED to bring back discipline in the schools! No ifs, ands or butts! Or better yet, send the drill sgts to the high school, that will shape them up real quick!

oh my gosh Duckie...I remember that one from way back! (Visine in the cocktail)...usually reserved for exceptionaly obnoxious bar customers...I've seen it done....Not to make light of this serious situation though...I hope the students are punished as criminals...when you're intentionally poisoning with a lethal substance, thats BAD NEWS. I wouldn't teach for anything these days...school kids are out of control...

This country lacks a lot of discipline. If we had discipline, crime rates and murder rates could drop dramatically especially at schools. High schools are dangerous for everyone.

The kids are out of control but it is mainly the fault of our sue happy society. If a teacher touches a kid for any reason including breaking up a fight the teacher can and probably will be sued for excessive force. If on the other hand a teacher does not physically break up a fight the teacher can and probably will be sued for being negligent. it is a no win situation. THere is also the issue of due process rights. If a student is disciplined for any reason and any of the student's rights have been ignored then the punishment will be removed and the student will be placed back in the school. For instance at my school a student brought a shotgun to school, then followed a school bus brandishing the weapon at some girls on the bus because he was mad at the girls. THe school recommended that he be expelled. He was listed as special education and one and only one form was missing in the paperwork so the hearing officer at the central office removed the punishment and told the school that we had to re-admit him. THis of course caused the parents of the girls to react strongly so the end result is that the school is being sued by both sides.
THis case shows that all authority has been removed from both the teachers and administrators.

They know they will not be punished as adults. We have created a society where kids have no consequences. We are now suffering the consequences. I agree that kids need the board of education.....MGC
