The mangers are making small problems into very BIG problems.They are making everyone esles life living HE**.I cannot even relax on my days off without worry about "what if"or what type BS it is about tonite.My wife worrys that I am going to worry my-self into a stroke or something esle!!!I work third shift so that takes alot of time away from home.And now I just found out that my little girl has a mental problems at school.And my boss feels like I should put my job first and family last!!
Out of all the grocery stores I have worked for this is worst I have even seen!!!I have been working 14 years in the grocery busness.I think the mangers like doing this stuff to us.I do not want to quit because of the time I have put into the job,but now with all these problems at work and now my little girl needs help I am thinking of finding a part-time job so I can send some time with my little girl and the wife.

Yeah, there's too many bosses like that out there. One positive thing: True, 3rd shift takes away family time, but if you end up having many doctor's appointments, etc, for your daughter, you'll be available to take her. Taking kids to appointments has always been a work issue for me, or should I say, for my bosses.

I had an employee with a similar problem on my third shift. He needed to be with his son who was having medical problems at times during the day, so I allowed him to slide his night shift hours forward or backward a couple hours to accommodate needed doctor's visits, etc, on some days.

I reminded him that the team needed him too, so that whatever he could do to get back on a regular shift would be appreciated.

He found a way to make all his appointments and still let the night shift supervisor know he cared about his job and then he got back on regular times again within a few weeks.
