Major Chick Flick

My passion for the Red Sox, and my wife’s acceptance of said, does not come without a price. Saturday night, I was one of several appeasing husbands/boyfriends (although there were a couple of giggling males behind us), who sat through this year’s chick flick of the year ---- “Monster-In-Law”.

Please be warned, not only is it chick flick maximus…but it stars none other than, Commie loving Jane Fonda.

I told my wife upon exiting, that this was worth at minimum, a dozen Red Sox games with extra innings thrown in.

I get the same thing with Debi's addiction to "male-bashing" movies on any of the "hormone channels" (WE, Oxygen, Lifetime, LMN)...each week is worth an extra addition to my (a) militaria or (b) knife collection.

Reason #1 why I won't see it -- Jane Fonda
Reason #2 why I won't see it -- Jennifer Lopez
Reason #3 why I won't see it -- I have $38 dollars worth of free movies to see (courtesy of SBC, and it was $50 to start before a friend and I went to see Star Wars: ROTS) and I'm not going to waste free movies passes on #1 or #2. And yes, there's double meaning in that. :)

I agree with your #1 reason, however...if your significant other had a passion for say....Dirty Harry movies, and you hated them, but if your only hope for seeing Olivia Newton John for the 100th time in Grease was to sit through one...you WOULD! :)

As far as Jennifer Lopez...I can hack her. I think she is one of the sexiest actresses out there. If I HAVE to sit through a chick flick, her being in it makes it bearable for me.

I used free movie passes for this one :(

I won't see it because:

1. Jane Fonda
2. Jane Fonda
3. Jane Fonda
4. All of the above!

Isn't it funny how there's one actress or actor that we can't stand. And for that reason, we won't even consider the movie? For me, it was Jim Carrey. For years! Then The Truman Show came along and voila, it made a Jim Carrey fan. For my neighbor, she can't stand anything Julia Roberts related and she reminds us of JR, all the time, facial features, expressions, etc. Guess that's it. Maybe she sees something of herself up there on the screen. Currently, I can't stand Patricia Heaton, so no matter what she guest stars in the future, I will be sure to avoid it. And finally, we automatically reject any Adam Sandler movie now. So many of his are too-silly. We did like the Wedding Singer though. That was about it.

Not to offend any of the board homosexual/lesbian section, but this movie had the pre-requisite hollywood chick flick status quo, "homosexual-best friend with the lead actress" thing.

Not that there's anytrhing wrong with that...it's just getting so very old in hollywood.

Yep, ditto for me. That goes for the music biz too. We buy our songs via iTunes or buy the actual CD. Never downloading illegally.
