I drove to riverside today and it started to pour really bad and with the rain we've had recently and the fact that the streets go under water easilly there anyways... So I had to drive through some areas of higher water and my car started smoking from underneath and my alternator light came on but was ok for about 10 miles and then I went to slow down and my brake peddle went to the floor and would not catch the brakes unless I pressed REALLY hard to the floor and even then, I still would roll. I have to slam the transmission into park to stop. The brake fluid was empty and smoke was coming from the wheel area so I added some and drove for 2 miles ok and then it started doing it again so I had to drive another 2 miles home slamming into park to stop and I took the wheel off to look at the brakes and nothing is wrong with the pads but the brake fluid was low again--wonder if water messed up the something and now brake fluid wont stay in--its not leaking that I can see. Maybe their is water in the line and this makes the brake fluid too thin and leak out or something when im driving. This ever happenned to anyone and can water mess up your car? Gotta drive very carefully for a few days

I came home and found this alert on the pc....If i had only took my pc with me or had a laptop--i wouldnt have such bad luck as I hate driving in the rain without my glasses lol.

1st off, you never drive through high water, havent you heard the warnings of this?
the smoke would have come from the cold rainwater getting into some of your underparts of your vehicle which is very hot.... as far as your brakes are concerned, when they get wet, they dont work....you have to pump them to dry them out...not push down hard.........pumping will work much better than hitting them hard, as for your fluid...you probably have a leak and its probably leaking and being held in the undercarriage...that why you dont see it leaking...if your having to ad brake fluid constantly, you have a leak, most likely nothing serious, brobably a small crack in the break line...not the most terrible thing to happen to a car

Thanks for the advice but it was raining so hard that I really couldnt see-amd didnt really see what I was driving into--I was merely guessing as to where the roads were...I pumped my brakes and they didnt work, I added a bottle of brake fluid to my resevoir and before I got home, I needed more as fluid had escaped and I needed more as I had no breaks again in 2 miles or so as the pedle dropped to the floor again before the brakes caught--whatever caused this I must fix before I drive again as chat has told me that transmission is not meant to stop and I can ruin it if I continue to use trans to stop. I must fix this!!!!!!

Coroilis/Ed is good with cars. Hopefully he'll log on in the morning and see your thread. I think Lindaloo is too. Don't laugh now....but I got the impression she is from a previous thread.
