Graduation time. Time for celebrations and signing yearbooks. Tossing mortarboards and listening to moms and dads say how proud they are of their sons and daughters (or how lucky they are that they actually graduated!)

Many towns have favorite sons...and daughters. Those who graduated from your local high schools and became famous.

Anyone graduate from your high school who went on to excel in the arts, music, sports, or some other field?

Most famous graduate from our high school back in Illinois was Judi Ford, Miss America, 1969!

I used to brag that I had been in her bedroom (I never mentioned the fact the she wasn't there at the time. Her brother and I knew each other and he and I went to his house once in a while).

Got a couple of well known grads I know of here in Phoenix. David Spade of Just Shoot Me and Kurt Schilling of the AZ Diamondbacks. And Michelle Branch is from up north in Sedona. I'm sure there are more I don't know about.

Any famous grads we might recognize from your high school?

I went to Jr. High with Laurence Fishburne (I.S. 88 in Brooklyn, NY). He was a child actor back then, appearing on the soap One Life to Live. All the girls on the bus would get all googly and say, "Oooooooo look, it's Larry Fishburne!" (like they didn't already see him in math class anyway  ) He looks exactly the same as he did when he was 12.

Judi Ford who jumped her way on the trampoline to Miss America was coached by Jeff Hennessy who lived in Lafayette for a very long time.

Coach Hennessey's daughter, Leigh (who I graduated with) is a stuntwoman in Hollywood. The only star I can recall off the top of my head that she doubled for is Demi Moore.

There may be more but my brain is not functioning to good tonight!

No one in my school has reached "stardom" as far as I know, but my wife was a classmate of actress Kate Capshaw...if that counts.

Cajunmama...that you would remember Judi's talent as a trampolinist is amazing.

While she didn't go to my high school, I did correspond with Olympic figure skater Janet Lynn while I was in Vietnam. Just a year ago I located her again and she sent me a variety of great Christian info related to her life with God as her guide.

And hey...Kate Capshaw was the favorite among Indiana Jones women.

"Innnn Deeeeee!!!!"

Comedian Gary Shandling graduated from the high school I attended in Tucson, AZ. He was a senior when I was a freshman. I'm pretty sure his mom still runs a pet shop there. Rock entertainer Alice Cooper went to high school in Phoenix with an ex-brother-in-law of mine. Alice and I still correspond. Astronaut Frank Borman graduated from a high school in Tucson (Tucson High) as well as Linda Ronstadt.

The most famous graduate of Douglas County High School I know of is former prisoner of war Ronald Young Jr. (class of 94').

My baby sis Beth graduated from Newnan high school in 2002...the same high school country superstar Alan Jackson attended (two of his sisters were teachers of Beth in elementary school).

Becky graduated from Lithia Springs HS in 83', and of course, she's by far the most famous graduate in LSHS history -- and I am lucky enough to be her big brother :)

No one famous to report from my graduating class either. There was one girl who was very talented in acting, singing and dancing. She was in every single play, musical, etc. After school she was performing at an amusement park nearby, called Paramount King's Island. She even graced me with a hello a few times, LOL. At a reunion a while back we heard she had done a few off Broadway plays but other than that, her career just didn't take off the way we all imagined it would. Her name is Patti Schmitz. But in all probability, that's not her professional name now.

Most fellow graduates are just teachers, nurses, mom's like me. Now at my last reunion, one alum had 13 children by then......that was impressive. The whole family came to the picnic in a school sized van.....she's not famous but we all just stared at that sight! I think she took the Catholic natural family planning thing a bit too far.....LOL

I went to school with the guy that played "Jude" in the movie, "Swamp Thing".

Also, on a local level, I had a couple of classes from a local newscaster here for Channel 5-WCSC TV, Patrick Villegas.

Nancy O'Dell (Access Hollywood) was a anchorwoman here for WCBD-TV 2 back into the early 90's before getting her big break. I met her when I also met Rob Fowler (Meteorologist) back in 1991. (Nancy Humphries was her original name on TV-2). What I remembered most was the micro-skirt she wore during the newscast.

I can only think of 2 brothers. They were both star hockey players, one went on to be the starting goalie for the L.A. Kings for a few years till injuries ended that and his brother played defense for one of the NY teams he is the one that I graduated with. They were a year apart.

Although, I didn't graduate with him, or even go to the same school. (Although my daughters attend the school now) Jamie Langenbrunner, right winger for the New Jersey Devils, graduated here. Game 4 of the Stanley Cup tomorrow night. Go Devils.

Blizzard you forgot about Cory Millen. He graduated a couple of years ahead of me. He played for the kings and the Devils and a Canadian team also.
