Wonder how long this engagement and/or marriage will last? Something's not adding up. Either he needs to calm down, get a grip or this will be the shortest celeb engagement/marriage on record! I can't imagine what it would feel like to have a guy so enthralled with you, to this extreme.....heard there are T shirts being made that say - Free Katie!

Too quick - I'd have major red flags going up by now, heck weeks ago!
He didn't act this way with Nicole......well, Tom Cruise never quite did it for me anyway.....something about him that didn't get the heart beating. LOL

I agree - there is something that just doesn't add up here. I do believe in love at first sight. But there is just something that is not adding up here.
Cruise has never done it for me either, Mary. He's okay, but I don't get all ga-ga over him.

Alicia - I respect what you're saying. I do remember feeling like that. But Tom Cruise is 42! So I think he's worrying some people. I want to tell him to pace himself, there will be babies, diapers, etc. coming ahead. LOL He'll probably take the 2 a.m. feedings if she lets him - NO, there's no baby yet. But I imagine he wants one of those too - fast! I've just seen clips of him jumping around on Oprah's couch and read articles with quotes from him, that tell me I've never seen someone so into the other, like this. It's actually hard to watch, if I see an interview with him! She is pretty though and I wish her well. I just hope she's had a ~moment~ to herself, to ask - is this what I really want?
Ironically, my oldest daughter Nina is on a school trip to London and Paris. When she landed I read that Holmes was in London, same time Nina was there. Now I read that he proposed on the Eiffel Tower and Nina is in Paris. So I will have to ask her if she bumped into either......it could happen, LOL.

Nina's in Paris! How cool is that!!! I cant believe you didnt go to "chaperone"!!!
I guess the only person that Tom has to do anything for is Katie. She is the cutest thing. As for the 42 thing, we have lots of guys here, mostly retired fighter pilots, who have new trophy wives and are all starting new families. can you imagine being 40 something with a brand new baby? HECKFIRE!!! Not me!!

AMEN to that!!!! And yes I am out of my 40's, but that is how I thought in my 40's too!!!
Cruise is into Cruise, imo, and always will be. Holmes is really in love with him and I think she will end up being hurt. Yes, as Alicia says I do remember being that in love and it is wonderful, but I think Tom is not "that in love", maybe in lust.

lust often lasts a long time.

Why doesn't Katie realize Tom stopped being cool about 10 years ago?
Free Katie, indeed!

i have to respectfully disagree. it's obvious to me the girl is madly and love and brava! that she is happy.

Out for respect for you Alicia, I'll edit out my geez part in this title. That was hasty, I'm sure you're not alone. There are plenty of fans that are happy for them. It's that his behavior of late is worrying many! You just have to wonder if he's sincere.....
My 42 comment had nothing to do with their age difference. None. What I meant was you can picture someone in their teens or twenties, behaving as Tom is, but when you're his age, I do think people think it's out of place. Sincere? That remains to be seen. Mature? Well, no, sorry if that upsets you Alicia but I have to say it. Tom just doesn't seem to be acting his age......yikes, gonna run and hide now.
David - once again, we think alike! I think Katie will be hurt too.

absolutely no need to edit the title. hey, it's your thread and you are most definitely entitled to your opinion.
but you have to act mature at 42? oh crap, am i in trouble and i'm older than that!
love makes people do crazy things.
and he is an actor. maybe a better one than some thought.
and to play devil's advocate here, i guess any mother should ask her daughter to carefully reconsider engagement to a twice-married movie star she's been dating less than 6 months.

Well, I don't exactly act 50. LOL
Tom is just acting like he's 18! So emphatically. He just doesn't stand there and smile during interviews. He shouts out at the top of his lungs how much in love he is. It just takes people by surprise, that's all. Like whoa, calm down there buddy......to say he would kiss the ground Katie walks on, is definitely not a stretch!
TV Guide has a blurb about the engagement and I guess the new nic for this couple is Tomkat? First I've heard of it....Tomkat, guess it fits.

From Katie Holmes' bio:
December 2003 - She and Chris Klein are engaged.
Engagement to actor Chris Klein called off in March 2005. They are no longer dating.
So, she was engaged to CK for a little over a year and has only been dating Cruise (I'm guessing) for 3 months. Hmmmm...

Sounds like a rebound relationship which usually don't last. Besides Tom would look much better with me dangling on his arm
